Apparition Hill is a place like few others in the world. The photo is of the 2,000 pound Mary statue paid for by a Buddist whose son was cured. The statue was carried by hand with the aid of the townspeople where the statue now rests.
More than that there are the two blue crosses near the foot of Apparition Hill. The crosses are blue because that was the color of the paint left over from painting someone's garage!
Mirjana comes to the blue crosses once a month surround by thousands of pilgrims. Ivan is frequently on the mountain by the Mary statue when he is in town.
There is another cross near the 2nd Station of the Cross. The Holy Mother has only appeared there once, and there is a plaque nearby inscribed with what she said.
That cross is a great place to pray as so few stop there for long. All of Medjugorje is visible from this cross in the valley below. At night, especially on nights that there is adoration, you can hear the throngs at St James Church about mile away and thousand feet below your perch. The twin spires are clearly visible.
If you go to Cross Mountain and looks towards Apparition Hill, you can see the rosary walk lit up from the mountain's summit or base. In the middle you can see the statue of Mary as well in the center of the walk.
The shops that line the area have more of the locals operating them. At the base of the road that leads to the base of the hill on the opposite side of the road away from the base is a small shop full of art work by local artists. Ask for Barbara, she is a wonderful person with blonde hair. She can tell you about the shop's wonderful art work and our tour group spend beaucoup money there for their frequently original artwork.
Apparition Hill is about a 20 minute walk or 5 Euro cab ride from the city center. It has two entrances. It is my favorite place to go pray at night.
If you go there after adoration you can be by Holy Mary by 11:30 without working a sweat. I recommend walking sticks and flashlights especially at night. If you break an ankle it is a 30 minute trip to the hospital according to our tour guide.

Read moreVisiting Apparition Hill in Medjugorje was an experience that left a profound impact on me, one that I feel compelled to share. Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this sacred site exudes a sense of peace and spiritual significance that is palpable from the moment you set foot on its hallowed ground. The path leading up to the hill is lined with rocks and wooden crosses, guiding pilgrims on their reflective journey towards the site where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to six local children in 1981. The atmosphere atop Apparition Hill is serene and inviting, encouraging visitors to pause and contemplate in silence. Regardless of one's religious beliefs, the sense of unity and collective faith among the pilgrims is truly inspiring. It's a place that doesn't just speak to the devout but to anyone seeking solace or a moment of contemplation in today's fast-paced world. My visit to Apparition Hill was not just a physical journey, but a spiritual odyssey that offered moments of introspection and a deeper connection to something beyond the everyday. For those seeking a place of peace, reflection, and spiritual renewal, Apparition Hill in Medjugorje is a destination...
