Fortica is a well-known hill above Mostar, located to the east of the city. It is a popular excursion site and sports-adventure park offering a spectacular view of Mostar and the surrounding area. It got its name from the fortress built there by the Austro-Hungarians at the end of the 19th century. Fortica offers numerous facilities and activities for visitors: Skywalk (Glass walkway): One of the main attractions is the glass walkway that provides a unique panoramic view of the city. It is about 35 meters long and about 15 meters high. Zipline: Fortica boasts one of the longest ziplines in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It allows for an adrenaline-fueled descent with a view of Mostar. According to available information, the length of the zipline varies (570m and 1000m are mentioned), and the price for two rides is around 40 KM. Via Ferrata: A protected climbing route intended for climbing and moving along steep rocks. Via Ferrata Fortica is 200 meters long with an elevation gain of 80 meters. Sports climbing area: There are routes for sports climbing, including the "Stolac" climbing area. Hiking and walking: Fortica offers trails for walking and hiking from which beautiful views can be enjoyed. Mountain biking: A popular activity on Fortica, with marked trails including downhill routes. Bicycle rental is available. Historical fortresses: In the Fortica area, there are remains of Austro-Hungarian and Italian military fortifications from the First and Second World Wars, which can be visited, sometimes as part of jeep safari tours. Mountain Hut: A former Italian bunker has been converted into a mountain hut that offers accommodation, traditional food and drinks, and is a starting point for many activities. There is also a cafe bar. "BIH VOLIMO TE" inscription: On the hill, there is a large inscription "BIH VOLIMO TE" (We Love BiH) with the symbol of the Old Bridge, which was created on the site of earlier inscriptions. Fortica is located about 5 kilometers from the center of Mostar and is easily accessible by car in about fifteen minutes or by taxi. It represents a combination of natural beauty, historical heritage, and adrenaline activities, making it an increasingly popular destination for domestic and foreign tourists. Opening hours are usually from 09:00 to 21:00 during the season. The current rating based on reviews is 4.8. A very pleasant place, not far from Mostar, with a stunning viewpoint and a fairytale-like sunset. The city lies beneath you like it’s in the palm of your hand—everything is beautiful and easy to take in. The café located there is very clean and tidy, with tasteful decor. A special mention goes to the staff, who were incredibly kind 🙏🏼❤️

My husband and I have traveled to many countries, but nowhere have we experienced such warm service, culture, and conversation as we did with the tall, bald young man. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to ask his name, but we had a wonderful conversation with him, and he was genuinely kind to us. Thanks to him, we learned a few facts about Fortica and Mostar.

All praise to Fortica—it’s a must-visit for everyone. A big compliment to the young man who served us; we truly hope to meet him again someday. A waiter to...

One of the most beautiful views of the city of Mostar can be found from Fortica Hill, where you can overlook the Old Town and the iconic Old Bridge. The surrounding nature is magnificent, making it a perfect spot for both sightseeing and relaxation.

The road to Fortica Hill is quite narrow and not in the best condition, so drivers should exercise caution. However, once you reach the top, you'll find a large parking lot with plenty of space. There's also a café and a souvenir shop to explore.

For the adventurous, there’s a nearly 1-kilometer-long zip line that offers an exhilarating ride with stunning views. The skywalk, perched high above the landscape, is accessible for everyone, even those with a fear of heights.

Overall, Fortica Hill is a highly recommended destination for anyone...

I don’t really understand the good rating. The good reviews made us want to try the zipline. The website has information about the price and the skills/age/weight limit, so everything seemed clear. However, on site there was a big sign “open”, but it was very much closed. It looks like at least one of the ziplines was damaged by a forest fire in the beginning of the summer of 2025. However there is no mentioning of a zipline being temporarily closed on the website. There is also no staff on site, no one is working on fixing the damage. The only thing that is open at the moment is the sky bridge. That was a bit of a letdown unfortunately. The stairs from the parking lot to the sky bridge are littered with garbage 😓

The drive up can feel a little intimidating since the roads are quite narrow, but it’s absolutely worth it once you reach the top. The view of the city is breathtaking, especially at sunset—it’s truly stunning. For thrill-seekers, there’s also a zip line that stretches from one part of the mountain to another. It’s definitely scary at first, but such an unforgettable experience! The instructor was incredibly helpful and friendly, which made the adventure even better.
