What an experience! I researched for weeks before my travels for an amazing trip! I found this trip based on reviews, and I created my entire holiday around this excursion. It was 1000% worth it!
We hired a car from Split-croatia and drove for 1.5 hours to reach the meeting point in Livno. Crazy weather all round that day, a lot wetter in Croatia than in bosnia, but we stopped at local shops and purchased extra waterproof gear, which we didn't end up needing. The weather was dry but cold, so bring a coat just in case. The border and drive is pretty much a straight line once out of the city of Split and no hassle at all. We were collected at the meeting point by our guide Inga. There were 2 of us & 2x other ladies, and we quickly became a group of friends who were on safari in search of the horses. On our first stop, we saw a group of 7 beautiful horses who came very close to us who allowed some contact and were a great introduction. Inga is very knowledgeable and explained about the herd dynamics and how they travel. We continued for 1.5 hours without seeing any more horses, the extreme wet weather that day was impacting the movement of the herds but yet we powered through in search of them. We were as a group manifesting and getting into the spirit of the mountain before finally finding the jackpot! We saw and interacted with around 100 horses who were on the move east from the rain and were all in full character as they passed us by with ease and confidence. What an experience it was to be a part of their travels for the last hour of our trip. Amazing!! It's definitely a trip for the bucket list and a pure bonding experience. Inga also recommended a place locally to the meeting point upon return to have an evening meal which was fantastic! I do recommend taking water, a packed lunch/snacks. In advance, I exchanged emails with the team who were informative and welcoming. Thank you all. I would 100% recommend this trip to any horse and...
Read moreAfter reading the past reviews I thought this must be amazing. I was unfortunately really disappointed, the tour guide barely spoke. Was glued to his phone while driving through the mountains, there was no tour of the township. Also use a vehicle during one of the coldest days that had no heating, couldn’t see out the back seats of the Jeep so majority of the trip spent looking through foggy screens. We all nearly froze to pieces, I’d recommend going in warmer weather if this is the vehicle they use. There was limited information given about anything with the area, town or wild horses. I had travelled quite far just for the day here and was a big let down. Even worse, the driver informed us they do not feed the wild horses yet at the end literally threw two apples at the horses which spooked them. Was really wishing for a better experience, but unfortunately maybe just got the tour guide on a bad day… The response of the tour guide clearly indicates their unprofessional, absolutely did no guests throw apples. The guide had apples in his pockets and I watched him throw them at the horses, then when they got spooked he walked over & recollected them putting them back in his pockets. The two page guide clearly indicates ‘tour through town’ which didn’t occur. The car was fine, though in 1200 above sea level you would think you would have a working vehicle that provided heating. I was fortunate enough a lovely guess provided an extra jacket. Overall I would recommend another company, one maybe with a guide who provides more than watching him text & drive in silence majority of the journey. Which I feel is a big safety hazard for the environment, not all can be perfect but certainly the tour can do better in...
Read moreWhat an experience it has been! Thank you Silvija for hosting us, you did a great job.
During our drive up to the Plateau we‘ve learnt very much about Livnos history and also about some restaurants and hidden gems in town. As we came into the horses home she switched to that and told us about where they come from and how to behave around them. Even the driving is fun and you get to see so many different landscapes and things along the way but when it was finally time to leave the Jeep, that‘s the kind of feeling I‘ll never forget. I‘m not a big horseguy but being around so many of them living out in the wilderness is absolutely breathtaking. Silvija is always checking around to find new locations, so don‘t expect to be stuck in one spot, except you want to be, you are free to determine where you want to go and to do next.
I‘m very happy we came to Livno and joined her on this...
