I took a chalet for 4 persons (as a solo traveller). It was basically ok, remote and privately located, but the rooms are open above the inner walls, so that you can hear very good what the people in the other rooms (including toilet) are doing and talking. So no privacy inside in case you are more than one person. The restaurant was really disappointing: They had no chicken at all, and only told me once I tried to order. The food came with bell peper, despite me ordering it without. Wifi was only available in the restaurant and was very slow. (They told me that Mascom usually works in the park, but I had Orange, and no connection at all). Atmosphere in the restaurant was bad, with no decoration, but a TV making loud noise. Food itself was at best on par with Wimpy fast food. Service was also unprofessional. Overall too expensive - I paid P750 for the room, and additional P200 for park entrance fees and the car to get to the chalet. I didn't do any game drive, so I can't comment on this, and this is why I gave 2 instead of only 1 star rating. Staff at reception and other than restaurant was...

The only good about this place is the location. It’s very convenient for an overnight on the way from Johannesburg to Maun and it’s very close to the Sanctuary so you can have a nice morning game drive with an excellent local guide, and then continue your trip to Maun.||Unfortunately, the chalet we were staying in was in a very poor condition with a roof that has access by squirrels which have done much damage to our belongings. The mosquito net is extremely small and you can cover only your top if you don’t mind the holes in the net. ||The worst has happened to us when we arrived for breakfast. After we made our order, we had to wait for nearly an hour watching the food brought for other people just to be informed that due to a power cut there will be no breakfast for us! What hospitality! How about to propose us at least some bread and jam? Of course, we couldn’t say anything because all of the negotiations were done by our guide and the tour provider Pastor Maswanganyi, who has already received our payment for breakfast, but left us hungry and thirsty until...

The campsite was decent overall, but there are some things to keep in mind. There’s no power, but the site is spacious with your own tap and two fire-making areas – one is a concrete boma pit, and the other comes with a braai grid. We stayed at Campsite No. 1, and unfortunately, the ablution blocks were quite far from us. The facilities include 2 toilets, 2 showers, and one bath, but they were a bit outdated. The restaurant seemed pretty average, but the staff were friendly, and we enjoyed a plate of chips there. They have a TV, but don’t count on the swimming pools – they were green and not suitable for swimming. On the plus side, you can drive around the park and spot some rhinos, zebras, and other wildlife. There aren’t a lot of roads, but it’s a peaceful drive, especially when watching the sunset over the pans. We visited during the dry season, so water levels were low, but I imagine it could be really beautiful in the wet season when more animals are around.

Khama Rhino is a quick stopover for most people, but I truly think this place deserves a bit more time than just a stopover. It is truly a special place with an abundance of wildlife. The campsites are quite private a really big. Each has a tap and fireplace with a lot of shade. There are 13 campsites (from what I saw) with 2 shared ambitions. The road to the campsite is not too bad, but in the park you do need a 4x4 for certain areas. We were there during the rainy season and even though a lot of the roads were flooded it was still drivable. There is a pool and a restaurant, both look very neat and clean but we didn’t get the opportunity to use either. There is a shop at the entrance, but it doesn’t have a lot of items. This is truly a gem of a place and a must see for all travelers.

This is quite a small place to do a Safari which is good because there are 50+ rhinos here so you're more likely to stumble along one. We were there for 10 mins and bumped into about 15 at the first watering hole! We also ran into a few giraffe and zebra. All that we've seen before at the big parka but never this close. It doesn't have any of the other 'big five' but that's not what you come here for. It cost 900p to do an afternoon game drive (including entry for two). The staff are all very nice, and it's great that all the profits go to community projects and the sanctuary but it would be great if they had an information centre to learn about all of the great work they do and stuff about the rhinos. Especially for those who choose to do a self drive safari.
