Witch Beach — Attraction in Região Geográfica Imediata de Angra dos Reis

The name “Praia da Feiticeira” translates to “Witch’s Beach” in English, and its origin is rooted in local legend. According to the tale, a woman known as the “Feiticeira” (witch) once resided near this beach. Some versions of the story describe her as a kind healer, while others suggest she was involved in less benevolent activities. It’s said that she amassed wealth through dealings with pirates and slave traders who, after the prohibition of the African slave trade in 1850, used the island as a point of entry for illegal slaves into Brazil. Fearing theft in her old age, she supposedly buried her treasure in the forest with the help of her slaves.

This legend adds an element of mystery to the beach, which is also known for its natural beauty, featuring calm, clear waters and lush Atlantic Forest...

The place is beautiful but can be crowded with noisy boats, what can ruin the experience of being there. Prefer staying there before 4pm (when most boats start to get there as it's the last point of some boat trips) or early in the morning. Bringing a snorkel mask can also be a good idea since the water is clear and some fishes can be seen...

Uma praia pequena e tranquila, com águas claras, ideal para crianças. Tem uma boa àrea de sombra. No dia em que visitei não estava cheio, mas acredito que tenha sido pelo horário (já era quase 16h), visto que, a praia é uma das paradas dos passeios de barco para as lagoas paradisíacas. E também tem um intenso tráfego de taxis boats que chegam de Abraão.

Também é possível chegar na praia através de trilha. Saindo de Abraão, a trilha leva cerca de 2h entre floresta, rochas e raizes... em aclive. Não recomendado para idosos e crianças devido as dificuldades do terreno. Porém, para quem opta por essa jornada, há muita vegetação, animais e pontos interessantes para se conhecer no caminho, como o poção, ruínas do lazareto, o arqueduto, a praia preta e alguns pontos ao longo da trilha onde conseguimos ter uma visão da paisagem.

Há uma barraca que vende açaí, bebidas e alguns biscoitos.
