I booked the 4 day jungle adventure tour via TripAdvisor with the company Amazon Amazing Tours. I booked it because I saw very good reviews which in my point of view are not correct at all. Let me start telling you how it started . I contacted Leonardo via WhatsApp and told him that I wanted to make a booking but I had a booking issue on trip advisor as I do not have a CPF number. I asked if it is possible to pay on the day of the trip but he refused and told me I need to pay the total amount in advance . So he shared his number with me and then the booking was successful. I texted him many times before the trip to ask about what to bring with me Clothing wise and had a response from him. But 24 hours before the trip, the tour organisor( Leonardo ) did not answer my messages( WhatsApp nor Instagram ), calls ( phone , WhatsApp , agenc number ) and emails. He did not confirm the pick up time nor who was going to pick us up. He made us worry if the trip was even taking place. It was a very stressful and frustrating situation for us. We even thought that we got scammed! The behaviour of the tour coordinator was very unprofessional! We thought that we were scammed. As for the trip itself, we were staying for 3 nights in Ipanema Lodge and 1 night in the forest with a guide. We are very disappointed of the food quality as they served the same food for lunch and dinner( they warm the leftover lunch). Once for dinner, the pasta that they served was smelly and sauer. As for the breakfast, it is extremely mediocre! the milk do not taste good at all. There is not enough variety for us to choose what to eat and even not enough quantity. The shower has only cold water. Do they really expect all guests to have a cold shower ? My bed sheets were covered with dust and other stuff and I needed to clean it for 5 minutes before sleeping. When we checked out, they told us that we need to pay for internet 10R per day per person and I was shocked about it because they did not inform us once I asked about the password and we already paid so much like double of all guests we met. As for the payment of the trip, everyone paid half of the price in advance and the rest was paid on the first day of the trip . So why does he oblige us to pay the full amount in advance ??? He was not honest with us. We have been traveling around the world and we have never experienced this in our lifes. This experience and the quality of the lodge does not match with what we paid ( around 500$ via Trip advisor) . Not to mention that we are the ones who paid the highest amount of money among the people staying here( a Brazilian woman was able to negotiate the price directly and she paid 270 $ for a 5 day booking including swimming with dolphins). I want to share my frustration on public so that other people don't...
Read moreI loved this tour! It's a wonderful opportunity to encounter the wilderness. Our guide, Jamal, was skillful and professional, and knew what he was doing. I saw more wildlife than I've ever seen in a place, so many amazing species and views of the river and jungle. We were able to get right up close to the wild. A bat flew on one of us, a HUGE toad jumped out of nowhere in front of another of us, and a large, red and black insect flew onto me. So the wild was with us! There were also numerous dolphin and alligator sightings, and such a variety of beautiful birds, butterflies and insects. Biggest butterfly I ever saw, biggest toad, a frog that looks just like a leaf, a swimming twig insect, etc. We even got the rare opportunity to see a sloth! There were some physical challenges, such as sitting many hours on a piece of wood, and heat and mosquitoes, of course, but one has to be ready for some physical discomfort if wanting to go to a real frontier. The Lodge itself was a very pleasant central camp, and if you want to swim, you don't have to go far to find yourself with beautiful wilderness on every side and no habitation around to distract your eyes. I lay on my back in the water after a while and then noticed many huge birds of prey circling lazily in the sky above, aside from the wilderness beauty all around.
I highly recommend this tour to...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went on a 6 day journey by ferry from Belém to Manaus. We contacted with Leonardo Mendes, whose phone number is posted on their Instagram page. We weren't entirely sure wether it was reliable or safe, but it's perfectly fine and we're glad we did it. It's a popular ferry that common people use to move around the cities and villages connected by the Amazon river, which is much cheaper than a flight. The experience as an European tourist is great. The landscapes are awesome and you get to see the reality of the local people. You can choose to sleep on a net, in a big shared room with other 200 people, or in a private room, as we did, which is much more comfortable (but still poor conditions for European standards). We totally recommend booking the passages with this Amazon amazing tours. We tried to do it directly from the ship company (Amazon star) but it was not working. We paid 1800 RS for a suite with private bathroom, while the theoretical official price was 1700. We contacted another agency that would sell them for 2000. The 4 stars and not 5 are because the journey lasted one more night than we were told. As a final tip, if you decide to come make sure to bring enough cash to buy food on the boat (at least 50 RS for person and day) or enough food with you for the whole journey, since they don't accept other...
