Gorni Voden Monastery "Sveti Sveta Kirik i Yulita" — Attraction in Asenovgrad

Beautiful Eastern Orthodox monastery situated in a secluded mountain area above Asenovgrad. A short drive from Plovdiv, the monastery and the area are a good idea for a day trip, especially if you include the nearby St St Koma and Damyan, and the Bachkovo Monastery in your itinerary.

The monastery is not very well known and it is generally quiet there - it is good for a prayer, or some reflection.

The buildings are relatively new. The church regained control over the monastery in the 2010s, after the communist government took it away from them in the 1980s. In the 1990s and 2000s, the building was government-owned and did not serve as a moanstery.

Good monastery, it's obvious that people look after it and keep it clean and well-maintained. It can be used as a place to sleep too and base for some nice hikes. There is a huge field for picnics with cold water and places to light a fire for bbq.

I think it is pretty good point to spend some time if you are traveling from Plovdiv towards Asenovgrad and so on. Road is mostly fine, but not the best. It is doable for all...
