It's really sad that the two black swans are chained to the lake, and only have a distance of roughly 5 metres to swim in. I saw one today trying to untie its mate by attempting to unpicking the knot in the rope that is buckled around their feet. I'm not sure if they're there as tourist attraction because maybe black swans are rare in Bulgaria?? It's really upsetting seeing animals being mistreated like this for the sake of tourism if this is the case. I can't see how it would benefit the swans in any way whatsoever, all I can see is potential strangulation of the swans when they become tangled in the rope. Is there animal welfare in Bulgaria? Who can I...
Read moreMy favourite place for a walk. Within walking distance from the city centre but outside of the busy area of the city there's a lot to do there. You can simply go for a walk, run or cycle(mountain bike trails are also available). There's climbing bridges at the end of the park, a beautiful lake with black and white swans surrounded by forest. There's also restaurant, free parking spaces and lots of picnic spots. Great for a day out with kids or just to spend some time in the nature. Also nice to visit and cool down a bit in summer months when temperatures a slightly lower in Bachinovo due to its location. Would...
Read moreAbout 200 meters west of the Varosha quarter of Blagoevgrad is the Bachinovo Nature Park. It stretches along the Bystrica River. Along the 2.5-kilometer embankment there are restaurants, playgrounds, "Aquapark Blagoevgrad" and an indoor swimming pool. At the end of the roadway there is an artificial lake with a depth of 2-4 meters, which makes it filled with water from the Bystrica River, in which water wheels float, made in the form of swans. For a small fee, anyone can ride a boat around the huge lake. On a hot day, among the tall coniferous trees, it is simply pleasant and...
