Great caves well worth 10 levs ( 5 Euros) with a guide. The commentary is in Bulgarian so if possible visit with an English speaking Bulgarian.
There is plenty to see and they have not gone over the top with fake coloured lights like some countries.
The caves are humid as you would expect. 11 different species of bats live in here, so look carefully to see the little critters napping upside down 😁
I certainly think this is one of the more unusual venues to get married if you want somewhere unique!
Re photos. Turn off all sound and take them quietly. The guide with us gave photo opportunities later on in the tour.
We really enjoyed it.
Think twice if you are elderly or unwell.
You can travel on to Devils Throat from here, but be warned the steps at the end to go up to the waterfall are almost vertical and very slippery. You need b*lls and energy to climb them! We were advised that we could turn around and go back to the entrance, but then you won't see what...
Read moreVery nice and stunning views, but very cold.... Be prepared as we have been told that temperatures can drop as low as +6 even outside was like +30... No pictures are allowed and many CCTV are monitoring this. However, with our group, there were quite a few who did not care and were taking photos regardless that the tour guide was standing right next to...talking about the guide - Bulgarian language only. All walking inside was about 1.2km and normally takes 1 hour. Within that one hour you walk, then you stop to listen for a guide, then you walk again and then you listen again... It can get boring if you don't understand the language. No other languages were offered. The car park was 2 local leva and entrance to the cave - 10lv. When finished and you come out of the cave - you need to walk about 700 metres to the car park. The overall difficulty is easy I would say but definitely need...
Read moreIn my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful caves in Bulgaria. The road there is narrow and one must be cautious at all times; however, the views are amazing. The cave is fairly large - it takes about 50 minutes to go through. It takes about 15-20 minutes to come back to the parking lot from the exit. There is no photography allowed but at the ticket desk one can purchase a CD with a professional video of the cave at a symbolic price. Don't miss visiting the Neolithic dwelling, which is a short hike from the exit of the cave. There you can see various objects found in the dwelling which, according to the guide, was inhabited by a family of pottery makers. A pleasant surprise awaits you at the end of your visit. There is a separate entrance fee to the dwelling of 2 leva but it is...
