I've visited this lovely museum several times. I recommend it especially if you're interested in local costumes and traditional textiles. It's conveniently located in the centre of the town of Elhovo, near the church. It may appear closed, because the lights get turned off when there are no visitors. Just enter, and someone will come. On the ground floor are artefacts and pictures relating to local history. These are of relevants only if you're aware of the historical context. Also on the ground floor are furniture and equipment of normal homes in bygone days, and those are interesting for visitors. However, it's the costume and textile section upstairs where this museum really shines. In my opinion, this relatively small museum can hold its own next to the bigger ethnographic museums in Yambol, Plovdiv etc. The wealth of costumes is amazing, all from the region (the town of Elhovo and the surrounding villages). You can see the characteristic style of local costumes, with black dresses which are lavishly embroidered at the top and worn over white shirts with embroidery, and complemented with aprons covered in embroidery with characteristic geometric shapes in bold bright colours. There are also costumes for special occasions, such as the Kukeri tradition, and displays of other textile embroideries. Whenever I've taken visitors to this museum, they always remarked that it had helped them to see some costumes 'in action' first, e.g. by watching a kukeri or lazarki performance in our village Kirilovo. So if you get the chance to watch a folkloric ritual or traditional event first, do it. Otherwise, go to the museum anyway, and just enjoy what...
