Google gives a route that involves a lot of walking, but there is better route for car: as you come from BURGAS on the highway and exit towards Karnobat, after few km watch out for panel yo the right towards Markeli. The site is restored, the church is best displayed. There is a nice view from this Eastern Roman fortress. Free, open...

The road to there is great, the actual remains/ruins are not much to look at. Only the foundations of what once was remain. Its a V-VI century Church and fortification. There is a great view of the region, sadly it's mostly fields and hills. If are in the region, go check it out, but no point in going way out of your way...

It was opened a few years ago and some of the exhibits are a little worse for wear. Having said that historically it worth a visit. Plenty parking. Free entry. Information boards in English. If you plan to walk to the lower ruins by the water it's a hard walk back up.
