I went there on the 20th of May, 2024. It was on the late side. On the sign it said that it is open until 18:00. We got there at 17:20ish and wanted to go and make few photos of the different letters in the garden. However, the person at the entrance said that they had already closed the system and cannot charge us for an entry ticket. We told them that we only need 5-10 minutes to take few pictures of the letters in the garden (the once that can be seen from the entrance) . So we had a back and forth for few minutes, where that guy was totally undeceive of what to do or how to proceed. Finally he accepted to let us in and told us: "Hey go to the museum first and then come back outside to the letters". So we listened to him and went for a very quick look around the museum part. We spent there no more than 10-15 minutes. Went outside in the garden and started taking pictures. I didnt know what time it was, but we were rushing. Around the mid way of the Letters another guy shouted at us from the entrance/exit that we have to get out now, that their boss have called them and they need to close everything and that we need to leave right away. I didnt have a watch or a phone on me (I was the model of the pictures) and I felt very bad for making the employees stay longer. We rushed the last photos (didn`t even manage to get everything we needed) and got out. I then saw my phone and it was 17:52. Sorry, but WHAT?

Awful service (unfortunately a norm in Bulgaria). The people there didn`t want us to be there. We spent 50 lv for an entry and another 20 lv for tea cups. And yet we got booted out as we are burglars.

As a whole the place is nice, has some beautiful things, needs a bit of working. Initially I was going to say only that they need to add signs in English , but after the whole fiasco they get the score they...

A small museum with untapped potential. It has a combination of indoors and outdoors exhibits, but there is no information in English. The highlights are life-size wax statues of important historical figures (khans and such), but there is zero information on them other than in Bulgarian. It bordered on the ridiculous when I approached a statuary group and a museum employee chidingly showed me a wall text in Bulgarian, which to me could have been anything, but apparently was a sort of „keep away” or „do not touch the exhibits”. Also make sure to bring cash, they do not accept card payment. All in all, not really worth the effort and money for international tourists, unless they add information in English to help you understand...

One thing that I wish - Bulgarian Government will put up more fund to add English version of each touristic site history so it will be more easier for us to understand behind all of these waxes or letters and so on. And so we can feel the history while visiting this sort of place. If we don’t have local guide Nor local friends along we won’t understand fully the rich history. There’s entrance fee to pay on this 20-30mins tourists site. It’s a must to visit if you’re within the area. They did pretty good job with the waxes - it’s really close to real looks.

A very nice place to get the right impression of who Bulgarians think they are. The country that gave a brand new alphabet to all Slavic nations, the people who first became orthodox from all other East Europeans. The only country in the 9th century that opened it’s doors and mind to the new idea that God should be praised at your own language, with your own alphabet, that makes it easier to everyone, even if they are not well educated to embrace God.

Absolutely incredible place to learn about Bulgarian history and the founding leaders of Bulgaria. Full of art, historic descriptions, realistic human like replicas, gardens, food/drinks/coffee/restrooms. I loved connecting and learning about my Bulgarian roots. Many of the employees looked like they took great pride in working there and were professional. Thank you for the great experience.
