My partner and I had an incredibly upsetting experience at Aqua Paradise Nessebar on July 7th, 2025, which completely ruined what was supposed to be a fun and exciting day out. What happened raised serious concerns about food safety, hygiene, and staff professionalism inside the park.
We purchased two wraps (döners) from a food stall inside the park. Halfway through eating, we realized the chicken inside was raw — visibly pink and dangerously undercooked. At that point, we had already consumed a large portion.
When we confronted the cook, who was also the kitchen manager, he denied that the food was raw, took the contaminated wrap and threw it in the bin, refusing us a refund because it had already been bitten. This was shocking — basic food safety was completely ignored.
We were initially refunded for only one wrap despite both being contaminated. After further discussion and showing our receipt, we were finally given a full refund.
The situation escalated quickly as multiple staff members ganged up on us, saying things like “this has never happened before” — even though a security guard told us it actually had happened before. We were accused of trying to “start a scandal” and treated with sarcasm and rudeness while trying to report a very serious food issue.
To make things even more outrageous, the kitchen manager claimed:
> "Bulgarian chicken doesn't have salmonella."
This is not only completely false, but an incredibly dangerous mindset for someone serving food to the public.
When we tried to film the raw chicken as evidence, security staff attempted to intimidate us into deleting the video, saying filming was not allowed. We explained that without evidence, no one would believe us. The guard backed off, but the experience was deeply unsettling.
We also witnessed shocking hygiene practices:
None of the food prep staff wore hairnets.
The cook was wearing only one glove, and never changed it.
We saw him wipe sweat from his face, blow his nose into a tissue, and wipe down the counter with the same tissue.
This all happened in full view of customers, while he continued preparing food.
Amidst all of this, Tanya, the park manager, was the one professional voice of reason. She took the time to listen, reviewed our video footage, confirmed the chicken looked raw, apologized sincerely, and offered us a full refund for our park tickets.
We really appreciated her professionalism — she was calm, respectful, and understanding, and made us feel heard after everything we went through.
Unfortunately, by the time this ordeal was over, our entire day was ruined. We had only managed to go on 4 rides, and we were emotionally drained and upset. We had come to Aqua Paradise specifically to try the Giant Snake, which was the main reason we chose this park. Because of everything that happened, we left without getting to enjoy it.
This was a truly disturbing experience, especially in a family-friendly environment. There were multiple points of failure:
Raw food served
Dangerous misinformation
Shocking hygiene practices
Rude and defensive staff
Attempts to silence our complaint
Despite the manager’s efforts to resolve things, the day was completely ruined. We left feeling shaken, disappointed, and honestly a bit disgusted. We cannot recommend this park unless serious changes are made.

There wasn’t much to do for kids in the area where we were staying apart from the beach and hotel pool. So this aqua park went down a treat.
The aqua park offer a shuttle service from a huge number of bus stops around the sunny beach and other adjoining areas. So travel to and from the aqua park was extremely straightforward. They have limited parking available for guests who have access to their own vehicle (but I’m guessing you’ll have to get their early).
The aqua park itself was like any other we have visited on previous holidays - similar slides and attractions.
The waiting times for slides varied. Popular slides 30-40 minutes, less popular slides almost immediate. I guess it’s all down to the time of year you visit - we visited early august.
For a family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids) we paid approximately £100 for entry.
Once you have entered you can purchase a locker for approximately £5.
You are not allowed to take any food or drink into the park - they will confiscate it on entry. You will have to buy food and drink on site so don’t bother bringing anything with you.
They have a few restaurants which get very busy around lunch time - so perhaps grab an early or late lunch to avoid wasting time in long queues. The prices for meals were not unreasonable. The range of food included pizza and burgers. Very limited vegetarian options but that won’t bother the majority of people.
The park is completely cashless, so on entry you will be asked to top up a wrist band that they provide. You use this to make all purchases across the day. The good thing is that you can get the money you do not spend, at the end of your stay, back in cash. So don’t hesitate to put a little extra cash on - you don’t want to have to return to the main desk to top up mid way through your day.
The slides at the park range from young toddlers to adults - everyone will find something to do.
Overall it was a good day (especially for the kids).

Fantastic Family Fun at Nessebar Aqua Park!
We visited Nessebar Aqua Park in Bulgaria at the end of May into early June and had an absolutely brilliant time! The park is impressively large, with a fantastic range of slides and attractions to suit all ages — from thrilling rides for the adrenaline seekers to gentler areas for younger kids.
There were excellent facilities throughout the park. The pools and play areas are well thought out, and there’s something for everyone, whether you're a toddler, teen, or adult. The sunbeds were plentiful and spread all around the park, so we never struggled to find a spot to relax.
As guests staying at the affiliated hotel, we had access to the all-inclusive food options — and they didn’t disappoint! All-inclusive guests had an allocated restaurant situated at the far left of the food hall, which was very convenient. The selection included chips, chicken nuggets, chicken kebabs, other kebabs, burgers, and a fresh salad bar. Everything was really tasty and ideal for a day of fun in the sun. For drinks, there was a wide choice from refreshing mocktails and soft drinks to cocktails and local beer.
The atmosphere at the park was lively and upbeat, with music playing constantly which really helped keep spirits high. The toilets and showers were impressively clean and clearly well-maintained, with staff regularly on hand to keep them spotless.
Safety was also a priority — we saw plenty of lifeguards around the big slides and main children's area. The only small thing to note was that we didn’t see a lifeguard directly in the toddler/baby zone, which might be worth improving.
The pools were a bit cold during our visit, but with the hot weather, it was still very refreshing and didn’t stop us from enjoying every minute.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this holiday and will definitely be returning. Nessebar Aqua Park is a great day out and a highlight of any stay in the area!
