It seems like they stuffed a ton of animals in someone's backyard.
With lots of visitors around, kids streaming, there is a bbq inside, tables to eat, kids playground. Some of the animals are pretty exotic(meaning not from our climate). The 2 kangaroos are 1 fence away from stray dogs on the street and a parking lot. The whole place is on a hill - so some of the animals have to stay at an angle the whole day. A lot of enclosures for birds and rabits, foxes, crows seems extremely dirty and stuffed made out of broken planks, rusty fence, trash material and lots of rusty nails poking out inside and outside.
As for the amenities there were at least 60 people inside and just 1 toilet which was small and dirty. The parking lot as well not organized(very small for the amount of people they take). It's probably hell for the locals around the place with all the traffic and animals.
I hope there is any organization in Bulgaria controlling this place for animal cruelty and heath standards. I prefer to pay a lot more and have much less animals in good conditions than this. Why the exotic animals - why the kangoroos and 5 crows in a cage? It's not a petting zoo, it's a prison...
Read moreGood place to go with your kids.... but some of the animals looked a bit distressed.they have really pretty Scarlet ibis, but he was in too small cage with no shadow or clean water bow. Nothing close to normal habitat of this species. It breaks my heart to watch it.The bird looked sad and distressed. The other animals looked fine but the cages were dirty and like small prisons , not like a place they have good time it it. The staff let all people to feed the animals with bread , not a healthy solution for most of them. The staff also were tired and didn't have shade to stand by or water. That day when I was there it was 30+ degree Celsius. I don't blame them for anything because they too looked too tired. Near by the house in the same property they had a dog house with a lot of droppings and no one bet an eye to clean them. In general looks like expensive to maintain prison bouth for animals and the staff If you are OK with that it is fine to take...
Read moreVisited on weekend. Paid 30 leva for two adults, kids under 2 yo go for free. Owner of the land is a genius entrepreneur, turned their home into a small and neat zoo. Most of the animals roam free and are not afraid of visitors. If you don't have a granny with a farm to visit in Bulgaria, it's the next best thing. Staff speaks English. At the cafe we ate fries with cheese, liutenitsa and kebabs - everything was very tasty and prices were cheap. Note that lamas and alpacas part of the zoo is steep. There is a playground for the small kids. Wc was super clean. Parking was not a problem because they have 1.5 hours stay limit on weekends, which is more than enough to watch all the animals, eat and play. Warm cloudy days are best for a visit, otherwise not much shade in the zoo. We enjoyed our...
