Rupel Winery — Attraction in Petrich

A traveling friend and I stopped by the winery unannounced and participated in an impromptu tour and tasting with the winery owner and the winery tour guide (acted as English translator for owner and excellent source of comic relief). This was one of the best wine tours and tastings I have ever experienced. The passion for wine was unmistakable and the end product was amazing! My friend and I bought a suitcase just to ship home the 16 bottles that we purchased after the tasting. Well worth the trip! I have visited many wineries around the world but this was my first in my home country, and I was really impressed with the beauty of Melnik wine country and Rupel winery. The views from the cellar door are stunning, our guide to the winery production facilities was very friendly and knowledgeable, and we were personally met by the owners Pavel and Anita who were very kind and patient in accommodating our late arrival and generously shared their stories and passion for wine: a rare privilege that is hard to experience elsewhere.
