Once you pass the Tourist Info Center it's about 3km till you see a fork on the road with a lot of signs (pic below) bare right, it's anothr 1km on a pretty broken pot holed road, but doable. Once you see a hotel and parking area park. Google maps will tell you to keep going for another 2km, don't! that road is only for 4x4 with really big puddells and rough driving conditions. I'll devide it to 3 sections from easy to hard. 1st part of the hike is great, flat, easy gravel path. 2nd part, once you take a right turn towards the forest is still pretty flat with some mild inclines very peaceful, beautiful, cooler and shaded with so much to explore around the path. 3rd part is the hardest one with steep inclines. It took us an hour and a half to get to Skakavitsa Hut (Hizha Skakavitsa) but we really enjoyed our time exploring the unbelievable amount of different mushrooms! From the Hut, it's another 30 minutes to the waterfalls mainly uphill. The path is beautiful and worth the hike by itself. Waterfalls are gorgeous and pretty massive, especially after all the rain. I recommend getting there early so you have time to explore. Warm cloth are highly recommended as the path is mostly shaded and cool. There are toilets at the hut and trash...

Rilska Skakavitsa waterfall is the highest waterfall in Rila Mountain. The waters descend from a height of over 70 meters. It is situated at 1,750 meters above sea level. The area around it is extremely peaceful paradise. In fackt, all this natural beauty is not hard to see - the transition to the waterfall is relatively short and light, with no major displacements, and the path to it is perfectly marked.

Amazing place. Very scenic. About 13 km total back and forth. The making of the red route is not always great and you lose some very nice sights with the stream, if you follow it 100% (some nice smaller waterfalls there). The last 500 m. for the parking is quite bad and almost unpassable if your car is low. You can walk to the parking, as there are a few parking spots below the 500 m drive..
