This is a beautiful natural area. But while visiting, it was clear that there was no plan. The wildlife and the natural beauty is in danger. Monkies were waiting on the side of the road, people feeding them in the middle of the road, tour guides promoting their feeding. Cars were feeding them all along the road. One monkey I saw during this experience was missing an arm, I wonder how that happened. When you train an animal where to get food by running up to moving vehicles, I'm sure he wasn't the only one. They will become reliant on it. I hope the NATIONAL PARK will put a stop to this, it is not okay. In addition, I saw some tourist not feeding fall victim to an aggressive monkey expecting food and started grabbing items from them. This is also a National Perk, it needs to be protected to preserve the beauty of the place. Moreover, the national park also seems to be building up the real estate in the park. This was very concerning, because there is a rich nature and history in the area. For me it is difficult to see a national park developing real estate for personal use, as NATIONAL park would indicate it is for the nation to enjoy. I would suggest seeing this park as soon as you can, because the future...
Read moreBokor is the most beautiful place in Kampot. It a little bit faraway from kampot town about 30 km. It kind of Historical, Heritage and enjoyable. The drive up the mountain was very interesting, the jungle growth was fascinating, the monkeys on the road were cute (especially the many babies) and the road, although winding, was in excellent condition. It has been sealed since the review I read prior to my trip. On the top I preferred the historical, cultural and religious sites more than the new development. The short walk around the waterfall is worth it, but don't continue too far in to the jungle without being aware of the danger of meeting a tiger! Relax at the lake for a picnic. Lunch can be bought at the cafe near the waterfall. The view from the...
Read moreI took a bike up there. What’s good is the perfect road surface, cooler air (take layers in case), various spots where monkeys hang out hoping for food, views above the clouds at the top among delaminated temples / old buildings. What’s bad is the outrageous building of concrete monstrosities up there - ongoing, with large trucks along the way, -the half-built /Chernobyl feel to those monstrosities, the litter that is left everywhere. A car of Chinese visitors stopped to give the monkeys loads of bananas - nice. And as they left, they just chucked the plastic bag out of the window. Unbelievable. As you leave the area you pass under an oversized archway with the ironic words: “Together we preserve our natural and cultural...
