3 days 2 nights and 2 days 1 night

So first of all that's not the first Jungle Trekking that we did. Maybe we had too high expectations from other countries but this time I was really disappointed. I give two stars only for the hard work of the local ranger.

Some things you should now: you have to carry your hammocks (not a problem at all) but what is good to know before that they aren't in backpacks. You can only carry them with one hand like a purse or you can use plastic robes that'll hurt your shoulders after short time. Not really good for trekking at all. you'll be bored up from the afternoon because there is nothing to do. You should take some card games or something else our guide was really annoying, he got drunken in the afternoon and put pressure on us to drink wine too what I denied, he wasn't helpful at all, sometimes he ran so far further that it was not possible to see him the only helpful person was the local ranger, the guide just chilled in his hammock and asked for tip for around 100 times on the first day of trekking. I like to give tip, it's pretty normal but this was so weird. Then he asked inappropriate questions and tried to flirt so we felt uncomfortable washing us (in bathing suits). they ranger randomly took a lighter and burned different insects for fun ( 🐜 and 🐛) if you are scared of extreme loud thunders and heavy rains don't do it in rain season. lot of plastic they have no eco friendly system nearly no chances to see animals with this organization. The ranger said 'you hear the gibbons' and then left the place without trying to find them lol the beginning of the way is 3-4 hours in the heat between farms and they only go to the national park on second day!!! This was the worest for the money. Couldn't believe. when we arrived in Banlung no one pick up the phone, no tuktuk as promised had to pay extra way back they send a tuktuk even so they promised motorbike

I decided to go back after 1 night 2 days and the only thing that the guide said is "we don't give you money back, we don't give you money back" - I never asked for it but to be honest if they would know just a little about customer service they would offer it. For me it was a waste of time and money.

I recommend to asked for...

Did two day tours here. The first was alright, second one I would definitely recommend.

First one was a hike to a waterfall in the national park. Our guide was kind and taught us some stuff about edible plants and roots. However, the hike and the waterfall itself were not anything special. Not worth the $40 per person. Also, our TukTuk driver stopped in a minority village. He could not really explain himself what was going on (we knew this beforehand so that was okay). But he also did not really interact with the locals. So it basically felt like we were intruding. I Don't recommend this trip.

The second day tour, with Sona as our (English speaking) travel guide was definitely something I'd recommend. We visited various villages where we interacted with locals as Sona seemed to know most of them. We also passed by rubber plantations and were introduced to gem miners. Sadly, the gem miners were hesitant to meet us. They told us tourists often came to see what they were doing, thereby keeping them from doing their work. However, they would not get anything out of it. We bought some gemstones from them. I sort of expected part of what we paid ($25 per person for the day) to be going to the places we visited though. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case. All in all this day tour was worth it though.

Lastly, Rilthy has been very helpful in organizing our visit to Banlung. He picked us up at the bus station and dropped us at our homestay and we were allowed to store our...

If you are a wildlife enthusiast like me, do not miss the Gibbon experience!! I have seen many off the African National Parks, well know and lesser, walking safaris included. This is ideal for 2 persons, no groups, Don't be put off by the price, if you see how many people are involved to take care off you. Stay at the campsite near the jungle, just beautiful and well maintained, with wooden walking boards and tent on a platform. Mr Rithy will give you an experience of a live time. Getting there is already adventurous, last stretch is on motorbike on a single track through jungle ,crossing some small rivers. First day you will have a jungle walk, you will see it is quit dense, so you have an idea what is awaiting you the next morning. You start at 4 a.m. getting near the last sightings. Than you wait in the dark, the tracker ready for a run towards the first sounds, be prepared! Register the sound it will knock your socks off! I was lucky, followed for 3,5 hours a family of 3 having breakfast under the tree they where eating flowers, and they swirreld over my head. Photographing is difficult, you need a good zoom lens, but you can film it. The food is great, the people involved are so sweet. Travel light, day pack, and take a head torch, you can buy them for 2,5 us in Banlung....

Today we had our last day of our jungle trekking tour. Before our trip we had contact with Rithy to plan te dates for the trip. We arrived in Banlung during daytime with the bus, Rithy came to pick us up. He explained the different routes to us, we chose option 3 for 3 days/2 nights. Both of the nights you sleep in a hammock. It is a long way from Banlung to the start of the trek, first with a tuktuk and that on the back of a motorbike. We had a lovely ranger and English guide. They both showed us all the different types of plants and what you can or cannot eat. We didn’t see any gibbons, but we did hear them, the trees are huge so it is hard to see them and they were far away from us. You should definitely be fit when you do this trek. The route we did was pretty hard, so keep that in mind. You have to carry your own backpack, water bottles and hammock (they tie the hammock to your backpack). The hammock is not heavy, but since you carry all this stuff you should not underestimate it. Overall we had a very good experience, even when we came back Rithy was waiting for us and was very kind to help us get a night bus and we could wash up in his house before we went to the bus.
