Bayong Kor Temple is located in Neth Rong Village, Preah Bat Choan Chum Commune, Kirivong District, Takeo Province . This temple is about 121 kilometers from Phnom Penh and about 43 kilometers south of Takeo. Phnom Bayong is located in Kirivong district, Takeo province, about 20 km from the Vietnamese border. This temple is located on the top of the mountain with a height of about 300 meters. This temple was originally named Sivapur. This temple is a single temple with four corners, each corner is 10 meters long and more than 14 meters high. About 1.5h drive from Takeo to the base of the mountain, where you need to take a mototaxi up to the ruins (5usd per person). There are no any modern steps leading to the prasat, but only the remains of the ancient stairway, which is very steep and difficult to climb at times. Unfortunately this prasat, built in the ending phase of Funan empire between 615-635CE, is not very well preserved, probably due to the remoteness.

You either walk or they are locals who can ride you up with their bike, it’s bed far. Then you have to walk to then top of the mountain. It’s a beautiful historic Temple how ever it’s not in a great shape. On the other hand you have to see what they did as far as architecture of temple landscape, steps and so on. It’s mind blowing what they could do with no tools and machines. Go Cambodia 🇰🇭

Prasat Preah Bayang Kor was built in 6th Century by bricks with 2 layers (the outer is about 1/2 meters path space larger than the inside one), laterite stairs/gates... and sandstones as door frames... The temple was built on the very top of the highest mountain range near Tonloib town, Kirivong district, Takeo province, Cambodia

The less known temple with full of stories n fictional history behind that you can learn from the locals. Storytelling by a tour guide is attached in the photos. It's also a Pre-Angkor built temple. Incredibly stunning with its beauty decoration n location on the mountain.
