Garoua Zoological Garden — Attraction in Communauté urbaine de Garoua

Visited this zoo today, and the conditions for the animals are appalling. I fully appreciate where in the world this is located, but it's no excuse for the small cages the animals are kept in and having them tied up .It's around 4000cfa for a non-resident to get entry. They have 1 lion. 1 hyena around 6 crocs, various birds, and numerous monkeys . None of the money goes towards the animals' welfare. The lion looks so distraught, and I doubt will live much longer. This place needs closing...

Not enough animals to see and no one to guide you. You just go and see animals, no one to tel you their story or at least what species they are from.

Only positive note was that the place is quiet (when the lion is not roaring 😅) and ideal for relaxation, alone time and mediation. Worth visiting if...
