As a disabled individual, my recent visit was profoundly disappointing due to the severe lack of genuine wheelchair accessibility, despite the advertised claims. While the provision of wheelchairs seemed considerate, the complete absence of any assessment regarding the terrain's suitability rendered them entirely unusable. Navigating to the wheelchair-accessible portable restrooms was impossible due to the tall grass. Furthermore, the extensive distance to the tulip fields, coupled with the extremely uneven and wavy paths, resulted in repeated, painful tipping of the wheelchairs, requiring significant exertion from my carer and causing me considerable pain. Consequently, we were unable to properly experience the fields, and one of the front wheels ultimately broke off during our return. This horrible experience will now confine me to bed for an estimated week to a month, drastically hindering my daily life.

To ensure true accessibility for future events, I urge you to either invest in creating properly graded, wheelchair-friendly pathways throughout the venue or reconsider advertising as wheelchair accessible altogether. Providing wheelchairs while expecting disabled individuals to traverse a kilometer on foot is illogical and deeply exclusionary. Many wheelchair users, including myself, are entirely reliant on our mobility devices and are left utterly disappointed when advertised accessibility fails so drastically.

EDIT: In essence, advertising towards persons with mobility aids while expecting them to travel up to a kilometer unassisted is a fundamental contradiction. It's akin to expecting a quadriplegic to run a marathon or a paraplegic to climb the stairs. To truly accommodate disabled individuals, the venue must either invest in comprehensive, genuinely accessible pathways or cease advertising that "[they] would love for [their] guests with mobility aids to have the best experience". Half-measures like providing wheelchairs without ensuring navigable terrain only lead to profound disappointment and exclusion which can lead to human...

What a wonderful morning at Lakeland farms at the Abbotsford Summer flower Festival! The staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable and helpful, with suggestions of taking our water with us as it would get warm. Although the flowers cover 45 acres, we didn’t have to walk all 45 to see all the gorgeous varieties of flowers, row upon row, then the sunflower section where you get to pick five stems each to take home. A word of advice is to wear a runner and socks as some of the low grasses that you walk through is prickly at this time of the year, through your open sandals. Some of the flowers we photographed were dahlias, asters, snapdragons, zinnias, amaranthus, cosmos, Batchelor buttons and of course, sunflowers! I was thrilled and probably took a hundred or more photos and videos! You will be happy to know there is loads of parking, porta-potties, and shaded picnic tables under tents, and Adirondack chairs under shade…so take your time and bring a picnic. You will also find water stations, and benches out in the fields to sit on, plus a few swing sets to take a rest on. It is warm so leave your doggies and babies at home cause neither one will probably enjoy the heat and hours out in the sun. Wear a hat and bring a bottle of water. Your treat is choosing and picking your five beautiful stems of sunflowers. Not to worry, the staff help to elastic band the stems and put a little bag of water on the bottom of the stems to keep them fresh. Ours perked right up when we put them in a pail of water for four or more hours before assigning them to vases. Enjoy your visit! Now I’m looking forward to tulips in the spring at Lakeland Farms. You can pop right on to the Parallell road on Highway 11..one turn before the exit east to highway 1. Next year they plan on added hydrangeas. All stunning, especially some of the more...

Today, I took my family, who came from far away, to visit Lakeland Flowers, a place I loved. I knew we might not have such a great experience since it's not the peak season for the flower fields. Even so, we decided to take a chance and paid $10 per person, with a total of six people. The experience wouldn't have been so bad if an extremely rude attendant hadn't embarrassed me in front of my entire family by calling me a liar. She said we could only pick sunflowers and not other types of flowers. Despite the confusion, I said I would pay for the flowers, but she continued to yell at me unnecessarily. I wouldn't have refused to pay for the flowers if she hadn't been so rude. I hope no one else has to go through this when trying to support a local establishment. The owner managed to handle the situation, understood it wasn't intentional, thanked us for our visit, and didn't charge us for the flowers. In summary, I don't recommend visiting outside of the tulip and sunflower festivals, as the flowers are far apart and it's very tiring to walk...
