Athabasca Falls Athabasca Falls is located at the intersection of Highway 93 and Highway 93A, about 30 minutes from the town, and the parking lot is very close to the attraction, so you don't need to walk for a long time. From the information point of view, although it is not the highest waterfall in the Rocky Mountains, the intersection of large and small rivers makes it the most powerful and spectacular waterfall. There is a path around the waterfall, which can be viewed from different angles. The tour time is about 1 hour. Athabasca Falls is located in Jasper National Park in Canada. It is a waterfall formed in the upper reaches of the Athabasca River. It is said to be the most thrilling in the Rocky Mountains Waterfall. The meltwater of the Columbia Ice Sheet merged into the endlessly turbulent Athabasca River. This pure and clear glacier flows from south to north to the Arctic Ocean to the vicinity of Jasper. The wide river gradually shrinks and follows the curve of the dense rocky forest. The gorge flowed all the way, and suddenly fell to a cliff of 20 to 30 meters, forming the galloping Athabasca Falls. Athabasca Falls is not only famous for its 23 - meter height and rushing water, but also because the waterfall water carries sand and stones, and the pothole formed by impacting the two shores with great force is amazing. This glacial water scoured these huge rocks year after year and day after day. After thousands of years of " cutting ", the riverbed of this huge rock was finally washed out of a 25 - meter - deep gorge, highlighting Athabasca. Waterfall is the beauty of the force that moves forward courageously and torrentially. Although Athabasca Falls is not as shocking as Niagara Falls, its water volume is abundant and the scene is extremely spectacular. In summer, you can have picnics here, and the lower reaches of the waterfall is a paradise for many...

Athabasca Falls is a gorgeous series of waterfalls (along with a canyon to explore). It is located approximately 30 minutes south of the town of Jasper along the scenic Icefields Parkway. It is a place definitely worth stopping and exploring.

There were a network of paved pathways leading to various areas overlooking the waterfalls and viewpoints of the deep and narrow canyon. Athabasca Falls was powerful and gorgeous waterfall with a stunning backdrop of forests, mountains and the river flowing through as huge volumes of water rushed down into the canyon. There were a few lookout points offering different views of the falls along the trails. I visited on a sunny afternoon and the area was quite crowded with some of the lookout areas being very small, so I had to wait my turn in order to get up front and take photos. The pathways were interesting to explore and one of them led through a narrow section between two walls of the canyon with stairs carved into the rocks. There were some great vantage points overlooking the river and the canyon to see where the water had eroded the rock to create caves and unique rock formations over many years.

Athabasca Falls was a wonderful area to discover, admire the natural beauty and take plenty of photos. The parking lot was large and could accommodate quite a few vehicles. It would probably be best to visit in the morning during the summer season before the crowds of people show up. If you’re driving the Icefields Parkway,...

You can't get much better than Jasper National park there are way too many things to list in ways of keeping busy out here even driving through here is amazing and for first time drivers through this area it's hard to keep your eyes on the road there is so much beauty surrounding you,Athabasca falls is just one of many places to visit and explore.I do a ton on solo hiking out in the Rockies and it would take a lifetime to hit all the trails around here. There are plenty of rest areas and lookout pull offs to park and admire the views.I highly recommend that no matter where you go keep your tank topped up there is VERY FEW places to get gas so if you drive in say from highway 16 West into Jasper fill up in Hinton and fill up again in Jasper town if going south onto the 93 Icefields parkway, from Jasper to Lake Louise there is only one gas station I'm pretty sure,it would be beautiful stuck out there but not if you aren't prepared. If you are new to this area And Canada then I recommend hitting up North Face pizza in Jasper for a poutine with curds and gravy and pizza, trust me it's the best place for it!I also suggest bringing fully charged camera and empty memory card because photo opportunities are every ten...

The Icefields Parkway is a beautiful stretch of highway in the Canadian Rockies connecting Jasper and Banff. There are a ton of amazing stops along the way which can turn this 3 hour drive into a full day! Here is the list of waterfalls to add to your itinerary: 📝 SAVE THIS 📍Athabasca Falls 📍Lower Sunwapta Falls 📍Sunwapta Falls 📍Tangle Creek Falls 📍Mistaya Canyon They are all easily accessible (with the exception of Lower Sunwapta Falls - that one is around and hour round trip) and amazing spots to stop and stretch your legs. ⚠️ Please remember to leave to trace 🙏🏻 Follow @the.wanderlustingblonde for more adventures ⛰ #explorecanada #rockymountains #icefieldsparkway #waterfall #travelalberta #parkscanada #banffnationalpark #jaspernationalpark #travelawesome

Beautiful places in Canada that you DON’T need to hike to🇨🇦👇🏻 As much as I love hiking, I want to make sure my posts are accessible to everyone. I know not everyone is physically able to hike, or it may just be your preference not to…if so this is for you👇🏻 1) Waterfowls Lake, Banff National Park - a road side pull inn along the Icefields Parkway, I think this is one of the most underrated lakes in Canada and it’s accessible for everyone! 2) Lake Louise, Banff National Park - you can view lake Louise shore just a minute from the carpark. There are so epic hikes here but it’s also easy for anyone to see, if you fancy treating yourself the view from the Fairmont for lunch is incredible! 3) Sulphur Mountain, Banff National Park - get the Banff Gondola to the top for incredible views, I recommend enjoying the view from Sky Bistro. 4) Moraine Lake, Banff National Park - make sure to prebook your shuttle but this iconic lake is enjoyed as soon as the shuttle arrives. For the ‘famous’ view in this video you have to walk up some fallen rocks but it’s short and easy to reach this view and if not you can still admire it from the shoreline. 5) Takkakaw Falls, Yoho National Park - this amazing waterfall you can see from the carpark, walk a few minutes towards the falls and you will get an up close view like in this video. 6) Lake O Hara, Yoho National Park - the shuttle takes you right down to the lake shore and there is a coffee shop where you can grab a drink to enjoy at the lake. But FYI it’s a very sought after shuttle to reserve so you need to book far in advance. 7) Bow Lake, Banff National Park - one of the first stops along the icefield parkway starting in Banff, you can see it and it’s glacier from along the road or stop off to view it closer. 8) The Whistlers, Jasper National Park - get the Jasper skytram to the top for incredible views over Jasper. 9) Sunwapta Falls, Jasper National Park - this waterfall is right next to the carpark! 10) Drive the Ice Fields Parkway - voted one of the most scenic roads in the world, this drive is an experience in itself. 11) Athabasca Falls, Jasper National Park - another waterfall near the carpark.
