Been twice and always an incredible experience. There are two trails depending on the parking lot you enter. The one closer to it allows you to hike up to the toe of the glacier (if conditions permit), it involves some scrambling against the heavy wind. It’s super cold and my family had some trouble making it, but it’s short and seeing the glacier up close is amazing. Another trail is from the second parking lot further from the glacier, and you can walk a rocky path for several different perspectives of the area. Still windy, but easier. I loved both. Bring something to cover your ears and maybe a face mask as well. It...

Stunning Glacier formation, shame it isn't bigger due to Global Warming. It is amazing to see as close as you can get without a guide. (Dangerous without a guide). However, we picked to do a Glacier Tour with IceWalks - highly recommend them - excellent knowledge, they have backup gear if you forget your waterproofs. Despite it raining on us for most of the tour it did not dampen our fun adventure. The Glacier is definitely worth a stop, but if you want to walk on it, check out IceWalks.

My husband and I hiked up to the toe of the glacier. It was fun as it’s our first experience. The trek up is between moderate (80%) and hard (20%) difficulty. What I describe as the 20% portion entailed inclines when my feet felt almost vertical. It was also slippery, especially on the way down/back, so caution is very important.

The parking lot has outhouses. No connectivity in the area.

Across the glacier on the other side of the Icefields Parkway is what appears to be an Inn with...

One of the top attractions and a major reason people visit the Rocky Mountains. This glacier is here year-round, and in summer, you can enjoy a wintery, icy experience even when it’s warm everywhere else. You can walk here from the nearby parking lot or take a special vehicle ride that takes you right onto the glacier. There’s also a restaurant, café, and other amenities available at the parking area.
