Nature park, only short commute (approximately 1 hour) from Calgary. There are multiple campgrounds thorough the valley. Road is closed for the winter season just at Sandy Mc Nabb campground. There are plenty of hiking or biking trails for every level of nature enthusiast. Beautiful scenery especially in fall, when winter is approaching. There are only few places with views like here if you are willing to hike to necessary elevation.

A short commute from Calgary (1 hour) and a beautiful hike with an incredible view. There are lots of trail heads with parking in the area and local ranches with horse back riding. There are campgrounds throughout as well with full services.

This park is easy to get to, out of the way enough that it doesn't get as crowded as other places, and provides access to a number of great experiences. We use it mostly for the back country access for unique hikes in the area.

Love it out here, it's become one of our favourite places. No matter what you are looking for. Long or short hiking trails. Biking trails or even horseback riding. If you want to do a hot dog roast or picnic or just want to cool your feet in the stream, it's all available at this one amazing spot. It does get pretty busy though so be aware when going on weekends/holidays that there may not be any available picnic tables / spots. Doesn't mean you can't go for a hike (as long as you can get a...

Definitely worth a day trip from Calgary, I would assume about the same distance for most Calgarians as Kananaskis so for anyone that enjoys the Rockies and hasn't had a chance to visit this place yet they will not be disappointed. There are a couple campgrounds around here as well, Sandy Mcnabb and BlueRock as well as some day use areas at the end of the road at Junction Creek which make great picnic venues...
