Pros: --Friendly staff --Lesson instructors are great with kids --Magic Carpet beginners hill is great to learn on (note if they have a lesson class going , their line is different and they lay the public go in between their large class) --Tube park is a nice and fun addition, although can get to questionable speeds for an adult near the bottom ( my spouse 'road the rail' between the 2 lanes nearly going over into the other side) --Good promo events for students, family's and date night. --Short chair ride, lines move at a good pace --Less than 10 min from Red Deer and cheaper than heading a couple hours to the mountains --Parking lot is close enough to store bags/lunch and go to when needed.
Cons: --Small parking lot, pretty full by 10am --Boot/bench area is way to small, no lockers, and people just leave their stuff everywhere including on benches where people are needing to boot up, it's a mess and there is no place to store your stuff for the day. Seems like people don't even try to keep their stuff tidy tucked out of the way, it's a disaster. Just putting all their stuff back into their bag would be a start. Expect to step over random single shoes, gloves. -- On weekends or busy days the lodge seems to be to small for the amount of traffic it sees. --Cafateria is just ok. Expensive for what you get and they don't keep up on the dirty dish/ garbage area. Literally watched them put the frozen chicken in the microwave for their 'special grilled chicken sandwich' topped with singles cheese from a wrapper served with pop and fries for $12, wasn't good. Fries were meh, $5 for a small veg tray. My hot dog loving 5 year old said the hot dog was yuck and just had the bun. Pack a Lunch, $60 for a family of 5. Don't mind paying that for a satisfying quality meal, but it was far from it, better tasting food comes from a drive thru. Pizza was like Delissio. --There should be signage for a 'Lesson Line' at the magic carpet, so staff don't have to keep telling public to line up separately. --There really is only 1 green run aside from the magic carpet bunny hill. --Season pass is costly at 1500 for a family of 4, when comparing Rabbit Hill which is similar. Daily ticket prices are within a couple dollars, but a season pass is half that at Rabbit. Not sure what the deal is on the double chair that doesn't seem to be in operation for the year.
Overall inspite of having some negatives, knowing what to expect with them, we packed a lunch and enjoyed the rest of our days on the hill. They won't stop me from continuing to go, but I won't be buying a season pass anytime soon at that rate or having a hot lunch from...
Read moreI decided to take my family up to Red Deer to check out the new coaster. First, for anyone going there new, know not to go towards the attraction itself, but to the mobile on the far side of the parking lot. We walked with our kids to the lineup to be told we need wristbands first. On the walk back we did notice the relatively small signage asking of you've gotten your wristbands, though there are no indications as to where to do this. It's not a quick walk with children....
Second, long story short, we ended up paying for single riders when we didn't need to. No biggie. Asked for a refund. To get a refund, we needed to set up an account. After this process we find out it's just credit anyway, no actual refund. I tell the girl I live in Calgary and don't plan to come back. The resolution was me just taking the loss and getting into the lineup.
Third, the wait was slightly over 2 hours. Slow line, standing in the sun, and any water for kids was a 10 min walk away while sacrificing your spot in line.
Fourth, and yes this is our bad, my wife lost her phone on the 3 minute ride. The guy unloading us after the ride seemed helpful, said they would do a sweep for it. Called the next morning, no one seemed to know anything about it. The lady I spoke with said they would take a look right away and would call me back. When the end of the day rolled around, I called back to a very salty lady. She said it's impossible for them to look until the end of the day (dusk) and they know about it, I should have brought it up the previous day. I said thanks for the attitude, and I had. So, I guess I'm hoping the poorly trained customer service girl can find a green phone in the trees at...
Read moreI’d give 5 stars except the burger and fries were terrible. I’m not even sure the burger meat was actually beef. The smell, taste and look of it looked like a Macdonalds sausage patty. Fries were cold as well. For $25 for a cheeseburger, fries and a drink I’d expect it to be edible. Anyways, on to the real reason people come here, the adventures. We got the $110 adventure park pass and what a fun day it was. Went there on my 59th birthday and the first thing we did was the climbing. It was so much fun and a lot harder than I thought it would be. Our muscles are actually sore today. 🤣🤣. The staff were all so supportive, encouraging, helpful and so nice. The zip line is a blast but truly wish it was longer. I haven’t been tubing in probably 17 years and it was blast. The start of it all was the coaster. The line up took us 35 minutes before we got on a coaster and then probably another 10 before we got to go. My ride was fast and full speed but my wife in front of me had a horrible ride. The man in front of her didnt use his gas at all and she kept catching him and having to brake. I think they need to space people out to where you are the only person on the track. Someone else ruined her experience that we paid for! She told 2 of the coaster staff and they truly didn’t care. It’s a shame that, that was our very last experience at the park and just how disappointed she was. Not sure we would go again because someone else can affect your coaster experience. Its not worth driving a hour and half there with the hopes she could get a...
