We had a great vacation at the chain lakes campground. We camped with our small trailer in loop c, and the view was fantastic. No hookups in this site. The kids rode their bikes, went fishing, played in the lake and the playground, and We also took a trip to the Bar U ranch (18min north) and had a great time. We stayed 3 nights, and even though all the sites were full, the campground was extremely quiet and peaceful. The grounds were kept very clean. Unfortunately, due to fire bans, we weren't allowed to use the group fire pit. The only negative I can think of, is the sanidump stations road on the right side (facing south) is tilted away from the drain, meaning our sewer outlet is pointing up slightly. This meant that we did not get our black and grey tanks emptied lower than 2/3rds. We had 2 others waiting behind us, otherwise we should have leveled the trailer with blocks before dumping on that side.

Nice park & campground. We go here every year. Lake has mountain views. My family stayed by the lake to witness the sunset & it was beautiful! Campsites have decent size & really wooded so you have privacy. It’s really good if you have little ones because there’s a huge playground. This place is a home for moose, deers, elks, eagles. Don’t get scared if you see deers or moose by your campsite because they’re friendly. I’m only giving it 4 stars because no individual fire pit. My kids love to roast marshmallows until fires expire & we end up star gazing. Also no flushed toilets & sinks in the washrooms. Only pit/vault toilets but very clean. There’s barely a cellphone signal which is good sometimes because we need technology/internet break. We end up walking alot & biking at this provincial park. There’s a fast food concession and we love their ice cream especially on a hot sunny day.

The Google overlords messed this one up. I was there 3 hours ago. Not yesterday. It is still today not tomorrow. Beautiful day today for a ride. After lunch in Vulcan and a pit stop at the candy store in Nanton, I had to cross through the Porcupine pass to get to Chain lake's provincial Park. (Not State Park Google). What a gorgeous ride through there today, everything is so green and the sweet smell of the grassy farmlands was so relaxing. Chain lakes day area is a favorite place to take a break. Great scenery, walk around and stretch for a bit. It is also a good place for ice cream!! Trouble is they have my 3 favorites, rum raisin, rum and butter, and pralines and cream. Talk about a dilemma. Today was pralines and cream. They also have food. If you are traveling through and in need of a break and a bite I recommend this as a pit stop. But be warned, Cash only.
