This place is fantastic. The chickadees will land on your hands if you bring food for them. Keep it clean. This isn't a spot I'd reccomend for picnicking, it's a condensed on the rails, gentle, beautiful hike. The wooden boardwalk guides you on its own, there is a bench at the beginning but only one. It's definitely worth the trip outside the city. Usually, you will only run into one or two other nature enthusiasts. I reccomend going on a very dry day since most of the walk is over flooded marsh and the mosquitos thrive. They're definitely as bold as those chickadees I mentioned so spray up well.

I don't reccomend dogs at this walk. I can't remember if they're prohibited or not (I don't think so) but since it's a bird sanctuary, bringing dogs will definitely make the experience less enjoyable for you and the next few people who come through. The exception being of course service dogs.

This park is highly accessable. I have gone during a migraine flare up (I get severe Migraines that effect cognition, motor and sensory perceptions.) There are no rails, but I actually fell off the edge and it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. The grass isn't that bad and during the summer if it's dry, the water isn't deep at all. I still enjoyed the walk, the sounds of the birds, the feeling of the wind, the ambience of the park naturally makes the whole party silent to enjoy it. I often see blind and hard of sight people in the trail because it's such an easy trail with beautiful sensory input other than sight.

I'm on the autism spectrum as well so I can attest to that being a good sensory experience. Quality over quantity. Autistic folks will want to stop and feel the breeze, pick out different birds, read signs, feel overhanging plants. The trails are a little slim, so you might have troubles if the park has someone trying to pass by. I reccomend single file. Try not to go off the path.

Falling off the boardwalk may not have been painful for me, but I don't think the marsh appreciated it.

I do think there are some stairs at points, but they're very short step up types. The boardwalk may provide difficulty for inexperienced wheelchairs, wide wheelchairs or ones that would be really annoying with the slats, but I can totally imagine someone with a lighter weight wheelchair making use of this trail. You do have to double back, but there is space. I could also see this being a really bad time for someone in a wheelchair if it was a busy day if people kept asking to pass them

There is no plumbing because this is a nature reserve so try to plan for that if you have needs for sanitary bathrooms. There are only 2 outhouses if I recall correctly and there is something about this walk. I don't know what it is. Somebody always has to use one. They can be a...

Lovely experience here.

Proposed to my now fiancé here a couple weeks ago and was our first time coming here.

Absolutely worth the drive from Edmonton. Nice and quiet. Everyone we met on the trail was super respectful. Squirrels are adorable and super friendly (they aren't scared of humans and will come right up to you) The chickadees were pretty tame aswell and landed on our camera a few times which made for a few funny photos. We did not walk very far in, but will return and enjoy the full experience.

Wooden walkways throughout with little peirs into the water in certain spots. Seen a few dirt pathways going different directions but did not get the opportunity to explore much.

Absolutely gorgeous from what we experienced. Decent amount of parking & Porta potties throughout.

10 out of 10 would recommend for any avid bird watcher, photographer or just...

A nice place for a walk and enjoying nature. At this time of the year mid afternoon only chickadees and squirrels are seen scurrying and flitting about. Clifford E. Lee is well groomed. I came across 5 or 6 broken boards on the boardwalk that could be dangerous to children and seniors as far as walking goes. There are several areas where you'll find snow shovels where everyone can take part in keeping the boardwalks clear. Unfortunately, that hasn't been done and the uneven packed snow could prove for difficulties while walking for some. All in all if your looking for a bit of exercise or to just help clear your mind it's a good place for it. Also nice to see the information stands and directions clearly posted with metres/km traveled. Lookout areas to view across the waterways or frozen snow covered ponds for your...

We took advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend to take a family walk at Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary just West of Edmonton. The chickadees are the highlight this time of year, but come spring the marshy area under the boardwalk comes alive with all kinds of ducks and water fowl. This hidden gem is definitely worth checking out no matter what the season! #edmontontrails #naturehike #yegdogs #wintercity #cliffordeleenaturesanctuary #yegkids #familyfunedmonton #familyfunyeg

Enjoyed a walk in this wonderful nature reserve Feb 23 .. it’s an easy walk … so many birds, waterfowl (not this time being winter) and small wildlife to view … the board walk due to freezing is a little up and down, also covered with thick layers of ice so you must watch your steps … the chickadees will come to your hand to feed but remember to only feed them healthy seeds .. we carry black oil seeds in ziplock bag for our walks .. the chickadees land on our hand and the squirrels scurry around our feet for black Oil seeds … the volunteers do a great job putting out food, feeders and houses for the birds .. very relaxing to stroll throughout the trails especially on a weekday.. there are picnic tables, garbage cans & outhouses within the park .. and limited parking especially on weekends when it’s busy ..

This privately maintained and run nature sanctuary is a nice place to go for a leisurely walk. A good portion of the walking trails are raised plank walkways and viewing platforms. There is a variety of wildlife ranging from squirrels and birds to deer, coyote and moose. The squirrels and birds are used to human contact and will often approach you looking for a snack if you stop in one place for a few minutes. However, please read the sanctuary's website on rules regarding feeding wildlife before you do. The sanctuary has only a couple of outhouses, so visit the restroom before you arrive. It does have a small picnic area near the entrance if you're interested.
