The only place to hold REAL dinosaur bones... So me and my nephew came to visit this place to learn some of the history of the area. My nephew is 9 and this was the highlight of our trip to the Drumheller area. He asked about how haunted the school and about the kids who went to that school back when it was running and the ladies working there answered all his questions. They were so informative and lovely! They absolutely made his day. But what's even cooler then the history of the school and seeing how people lived in olden times is the fact one of the locals donated dinosaur bones he had found years ago on his property that the school displays and even let's you hold! Unbelievable! We held real dinosaur bones. Stop by here and take the tour. It's a really amazing educational experience.

Wow! What a truly memorable experience at the East Coulee School Museum. We had our 2 cats in their carriers , so it was great that they allowed us inside with them. This place is a hidden gem, if you are in the Drumheller area. There is so much history in this one place. The classrooms with true stories in those books on the desks , are a grim reminder of what life used to be. The staff mentioned that there have been spooky experiences , but none of them are harmful. We were denied entry at the Atlas Coal mine because of our fur babies and that’s how we found this museum. And we are so glad we did. They also have a cute cafe and a lovely gift shop attached. Here are some pictures of our experience.

You on the fence about visiting here? Read me: This museum is legit, even after 2 hours of viewing and a tour, there was much left to see. Our tour guide's name was Pam, she displayed an extensive knowledge about the museum, East Coulee, Drumhellar, and anthropology, which enriched an already genuine experience. Staff of the museum come from all over Alberta and offer visitors a chance to learn about a LOT here. If you're driving by, don't blink, else you'll miss East Coulee; small towns benefit from tourism--try this museum!

A few years ago I went to the museum and saw a display of local men who fought in wars like ww2, Korea, and a couple others. I had a framed news paper article from when I deployed to Afghanistan. I figured that since I grew up in the Coulee it would be a nice addition to the display. A kind of ,"East Coulee still has men willing to fight for Canada" kind of thing. So I gave it to them. 6 months later I went back and noticed that the article was never put in the display. When I asked why I was told," The curator feels that that war isn't significant enough." Than they gave it back to me. Tell that to all the families of the Canadians that died over there! If I could I would give them a negative rating for that, I feel that 1 star...

We had about 80 people at a Celebration of life event held for my Mom at the East Coulee School Museum in May of 2022. The museum staff catered, and all allergies, and personal preferences were carefully considered in the menu planning. Museum furniture and items were moved to make room for our décor, which the staff created and displayed. When we arrived for this event, the staff had all chairs set up, with the tables near-by, ready for the lunch. We were consulted during the event, in case we needed anything. After the event was over, we simply walked away, because the staff took down all the tables and chairs. The museum atmosphere together with the contribution of the museum staff makes this a wonderful event...
