This is a provincial park available for day use just outside of Cochrane on the 1A highway. The turnoff to the park is gravel, but the distance is only a few kilometers to the park, of which the road inside the park is paved. There are washrooms available for use, picnic tables near the entrance. There is a paved bike path (bikes are only allowed on the paved path) and dirt trails available for hiking. You are allowed to bring dogs, but the dogs must remain on a leash, otherwise there is a fine. There are some trees areas, but the majority of the bike path is open and exposed with little shade cover. I would suggest bringing water as it can be quite dry and humid. The trails are shorter in nature with the longest taking only a couple hours (depends on how fast you walk). There are garbage bins strategically placed along the paths. There is a river that runs through the park, but no real areas to easily get to the river. Mostly cyclists and hikers at this park. The park is day use only, with no camping and...
Read moreThis is a little unknown gem of a park located between Calgary and Cochrane. Access to it is quite easy and the road to it is solid.
There are multiple parking lots at the park so it should be easy enough to find parking.
There are male and female washrooms that are reasonably clean with a security camera just outside to ensure that everything is kosher.
The main trail from there is the Tiger Lilly Loop. There is ample signage and garbage receptacles for both garbage and recycling at the beginning of the trail.
PRO TIP- Near the bottom of the trail, there is a small pond. DO NOT GO IN! THERE ARE LEACHES IN THERE THAT WILL LATCH ONTO YOU!
The paved pathway is easily navigatable for all ages. Bring your dog too as long as they...
Read moreIt's tempting to post a bad review about this park as it is a hidden gem yet to be found by many people. But I will be honest and say it is an amazing park to visit again and again. It changes over the seasons so you will want to watch this happen. It is so big that even when the parking lot is full - you won't run into many people. Loads of paved paths but also gravel and dirt paths to explore. A few picnic tables are at critical points along with three toilet stations. (No running water.) Great for long walks (but save enough energy to climb up to the parking lot!). Bring binoculars for watching all the birds and a leash and waste bag if you have a dog. This is NOT an off leash area and it...
