My son Mayson took me to the Grey Owl Meadery on July 17, 2020 for my last night's visit in Drayton Valley Alberta, with him and his beautiful new wife Baylee. I was pleasantly surprised. I have been to a lot of wineries in BC and the Grey Owl definitely compares. The owners are very welcoming, the building comfortable, and the wines delicious. We did a tasting, had a glass of great Pinot, and enjoyed a charcuterie board. As a matter of fact I'm sharing a bottle of Grey Owl Haskap wine with my husband as we speak, that my son bought me to take home. Our next visit to Drayton Valley we will visit Grey Owl again.

What a great little place. Our first time here, a meadery and only 1.5 hours from Edmonton. We met a couple friends here today for some mead and a charcuterie. It was delicious ...the local honey in the charcuterie hit the spot and the mead..oh my so amazing. My favorite apple pie ! Wowzers. Beautiful little spot with beautiful scenery. The dog Bella was adorable as were the cows that we visited while there. Cannot wait to go back for more and once covid is over for a tour. Fantastic spot

Very lovely local Meadery. Owners and staff are friendly and well informed. It was a beautiful sunny warm autumn day when we visited. The lounge is open and heated and faces the forest and the mountains. Just an amazing rural Alberta location. Yes the Meade was very good and we bought quite a few bottles, as i suspect most visitors do. What a beautiful drive out there from hwy 2 or from Rocky MTN House.

A few years ago I fell in love with mead. So when I heard there was a meadery open in the area I knew I had to check it out. The first chance I got to go out I took it and I was not disappointed.

I met with some of the owners (father and son), who took me for a tour of the facility and told me the back ground of the meadery and their strives to create unique flavors.

Being someone who both enjoys drinking mead I also love brewing it. This granted a long and insiteful convorsation about flavor profiles and new methods of brewing.

After some much appreciated exchanging of ideas it was off to the tasting room. The entire line up was there and I was fighting hard to curb my excitement to try them all. With out writing out a long review on each individual mead I will say every one I tried was a new experience.

From the black currant to the wild, each was a mouthful of new flavor adventures. Familear fruits mixed with fragrant honey brought a smile to my pallet.

But what I was not prepared for was their newest flavor, Haskap. It looks like an elongated blueberry, so I was expecting a similar flavor. I couldn't be more wrong, it was a mixture of citris with notes of blueberry and honey. It was nothing like I ever experience in my life. I could write about notes and hints all day. But that would not do the mead justice. All I knew is that I needed to take a battle home and sit with the crisis of sharing or enjoying alone.

I wound up taking their entire lineup home as I had to share these unique meads with family and friends. I know they will fall in love with these meads as I have.

Even though Grey Owl Meadery is the new kid on the block they have come out the gate swinging. They are not afraid of taking chances with new flavors you wont find anywhere else. They are a heavy contender in the growing world of mead and I for one am excited to see what flavors they come up with next to knock out...

I went looking for good pizza and I found something else. Delicious pizza ! The crust is Airy and tender . Flavorful and cooked to perfection . The sauce . Each sauce is unique to the pizza . I like that . Who would have thought that honey Dijon sauce , roasted apple , maple bacon and provolone would be a thing ? Well let me tellyou . Stopping at just one slice is not an option . The pepperoni . Grana-padano cheese . This just added levels to a pepperoni pizza that I appreciate . Some yet complex , perfect pairing ...again . The last pizza was new on the menu so I can't remember the name . Let's just say that I hope it becomes a permanent me no choice. A little heat . A little sweet . Rib steak ( i think ) , peppers . The sauce was mind blowing . Its nice to have this in our own back yard . Keep up the creativity and hard work . Definitely appreciated...

We had a great time at Grey Owl Meadery on April 28, 2021. All protocols were followed. Arlene & Walter are delightful people who shared their passion - excellent mead (wine & honey), tasteful meal of cheeses, nuts, crackers, olives, and jam, finished with really wonderful specialty coffees. An enjoyable trip from Edmonton and a unique way to celebrate a birthday. Outdoor heated & screened patio. Highly recommended as a fun day trip to support a business that is owned and operated by local Albertans who are making a contribution to our incredible community. Check out their website for detailed mead & menu information. Larry &...
