This has been something I had been wanting to do at the behest of my little monkey who has been wanting to visit the dinosaurs. For the longest time, I had no idea that this place even existed, so when the opportunity came, I packed the family and drove about 45 minutes(I live on the south side) where it is a few Km from Gibbons, AB.

From the moment I arrived at my destination, I was thoroughly impressed with the setup which modelled its design like the movie. Due to the circumstance that it was an absolutely gorgeous day, made the experience double the enjoyment. This place had everything a child from preschool to middle school would enjoy. The reception area had a mini-museum with actual skeletal fossils and animatronic heads of dinosaurs that would swivel its head, open its jaws and roar inches away from you. There is also a gift shop.

Next, you step out into the open area that includes both coin operated gyrating or stationary Dinos that provide fun and adventure for riding tots; a playground equipped with dinoesque slides and climbing apparatuses, a mini golf area, a picnic area, and a snack store.

Now the main event. The surrounding perimeter of the above description is the actual forest, where there is a simple trail that takes the person on an adventure to see the amazing life size animatronic dinosaurs, greenery(lots of attention and information is also dedicated to plant life to also indulge the future botanists), insects, and pterosaurs along this perimeter. Motion sensors trigger these giants to move there limbs and roar making the experience enjoyable. Along with each exhibit, there is a placard that provides descriptions of the prehistoric legends in regards to the time period they lived in, size, and other aspects.

With all this, there are some things to take notice: 1. Bring food-There is a snack bar which will give you necessities, but no epic dining experience. We packed a picnic basket with sandwiches, snacks and drinks and enjoyed ourselves. 2. Wear lots of bug spray-the raptors may not feast on you, but the mosquitoes will if you don't douse yourself with ample repellent. 3. There are washrooms, but they don't appear to accommodate large scores of people that frequent this place so beware.

Overall, I had a wonderful experience with my family as it was everything I hoped it would be for 40 dollars for the family for the day(I spent 85 dollars to spend an hour at taste of Edmonton for context). No, I was not convinced that I was on Isla Nublar, minutes away from being devoured by a Theropod, but it was the experience of my little one that makes me want to comeback before the...

Jurassic Forest Picnic Park: A Roaring Good Time for the Whole Family! Jurassic Forest Picnic Park is an absolute gem, offering a fantastic blend of education, adventure, and pure fun that kept our two young kids (and us!) thoroughly entertained. We had a truly wonderful time and highly recommend it for families looking for a unique outing. The highlight for us was undoubtedly the walking trails, where amazing dinosaur structures are mysteriously placed, mimicking a journey back to the Jurassic era. Each turn brought a new, impressive discovery, sparking wonder and excitement in our little ones. The attention to detail in these life-sized dinosaurs is remarkable, making for some fantastic photo opportunities and memorable moments. Beyond the thrilling trails, the park offers a brilliant kids' play area. Our children absolutely loved digging in the sand, using brushes to unearth buried dinosaur fossils. This interactive activity is genius, truly bringing out the inner paleontologist in budding explorers. It's a creative way to combine play with learning. To top it all off, we had a blast on the fabulous 18-hole mini-golf course. It was well-maintained and offered just the right level of challenge and fun for all ages, making for some friendly family competition. From the immersive dinosaur trails to the engaging play areas and fun mini-golf, Jurassic Forest Picnic Park provides a full day of entertainment. We left with tired but happy kids and a host of cherished memories. It's a definite must-visit for any family in the...

Was great kids had fun. Lots of places to find shade. Which was very nice. Also the gift shop was amazing. The prices were fair. There was stuff for cheap and the more expensive stuff was reasonable. Only paid about $20 for a hat. If you go to the museum in Edmonton u are looking at $40 a hat. The dino forest had $20 to 25 dollar t-shirts. Any other museum you are going to be paying $40 minimum. Please keep your prices like this. It makes the outing that much better. We actually bought everyone a hat and my sister bought t-shirts. We would never have bought anything if the prices were like the other place. Really was impressed with the pricing. Thank you so much. Really looks like you guys think this through. Better to make sales then over price and not have people buy because they bring 4 kids and can't just buy one kid something. Even the $1 dinosaur were great. Makes it so a kid can have $5 or $10 bucks with them and actually but something. That way everyone can afford something. If you can't afford the bigger ticket items then they can buy a lower ticket item. Really love this someone was really thinking this through. Worth the visit! I recommend going! If u purchase online you save money. I never did that but it...

This place is a bit “meh”. It reads like it will have some decent animatronic Dinosaurs and our Dino obsessed 10 year old was really looking forward to it. The site is a bit in the middle of nowhere, but easy enough to get to from Edmonton with hardly any traffic on the way. The site it pretty big with 2 different Dino sections. Each section is a trail, that you follow and there are signs / info boards pointing out different insects, vegetation and of course Dinosaurs. When you cross a motion sensor, the Dinosaurs off in the trees make some movement, or noise. It is pretty tame and something you would see in theme parks 20 years ago. So the animatronic side of things was pretty poor. Still, the models were good, sized seemingly right with the information boards telling you all about them. We were there for about an hour or so and I think that was the extent of how long you could spend there, without little ones playing in the playground section. Worth it for little ones. For slightly older, Dino obsessed ones it will be a let down. Staff were friendly at reception etc and there was food available on site. Gift shop a little disappointing. Would definitely not return.
