Mistaya Canyon is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful stops along the Icefields Parkway. Located about 75 kilometers north of Lake Louise, the trail head begins at a parking lot, from which a partly steep hiking trail leads about 10 minutes down into the valley and to a bridge. The steadily increasing noise then announces an extraordinary natural phenomenon: Mistaya Canyon - a winding, dark gray gorge with white-foaming whirlpools and impressive small waterfalls. Despite this impressive natural spectacle, you should be careful: the edges of the rock slabs can be very slippery!
