I had fun skiing here. Unfortunately, their chairlift was not operational and the other two tow lifts served only about 4 trails total. A few other trails were closed, maybe waiting for more snow. This place is very close to Grand Prairie, so there were more skiers and snowboards here than at any other ski area in northern Alberta. Nighthawk is supposed to be a hip place for kids so there was loud music blasting out of loudspeakers all along the deck at the lodge, but it was too cold for anyone to sit and eat outside, while the music did nothing for those who were enjoying the slopes, so the music was mainly a nuisance near the lodge.    Read moreNitehawk is a great little hill for families. It's not a mountain of course so it's not really fair to compare it to one. It is also a lot cheaper than Jasper or Banff. There is a magic carpet on the bunny hill. A platter tow for the trick park and beginner run and a triple chair for the other runs. There's also a winter tubing zone. There was a family from Edmonton with us commenting on how much better it was than rabbit hill. AMA card gives you 10% discount on lift tickets and rentals. The ski instructors are excellent with the kids.

Was about to take the loss and call it quits when we decided to ask an instructor for a quick crash course on how to use the t-bar and he went above and beyond to give us a full lesson on snowboarding.
