This is not the attraction for everyone. Simpler folk will see a rock in a field but this is a protected historic site for a reason. My aunt put it best, this little rock millions of ears ago made the huge change from living deep below the ocean to the peak of a mountain and, unhappy with its place, leapt from the mountain to ride the glacier away. We know that the rock fell from a mountain, we even know where exactly it came from. But to think that this lonely little rock wasn't torn away at all, but had the cosmic circumstance to part from the mountain on its own terms, onto the back of a glacier and move so far from Jasper, you can't help but wonder about the personality of the universe around you, the beating soul of the planet.
Of course, it's just a rock in a field. Of course, erosion and gravity over millennia, the trauma of tectonic activity would cause a rock to fall and one of them must have landed on a glacier. But to those people who see only that, this will forever be just a rock in a field. They will not feel the depth of circumstance that have brought them and the Erratic together.
There is a personality to the erratic, if you have the heart and the curious mind to feel it. Stand inside it and wonder at its journey and yours and see if you don't find a...

Β Β Β Read moreThis was such a great experience for me, my son and my daughter-in-law! Even though they have both been to see it before (as they live just a few towns away from it), but since I came to visit them from Ontario, they wanted to show me around! They didn't fail! π This is such a great historical site to see in person! Seeing pictures of this "rock" itself (online photos), it truly does it no justice! This rock is quite massive, and well, just so very impressive, seeing it with your own two eyes, and when you read the story behind it! It simply makes your brain wonder how it actually made it's way to this very location! Quite impressive, without a doubt!β΄

You might be lucky enough to have them come up to the fence so you...
