📍 Red Lodge Provincial Park, Alberta Location: 121km NW of Calgary, west of Bowden Campground: Treed, powered and unpowered sites. Loop C is my fave. It has water, showers, washrooms, a playground, small store (🍦), firewood for sale, day use areas, and a dump station. Campsites can be reserved online through the @alberta_parks website. Why we love it: the river is amazing, perfect for floating, swimming, fishing, throwing rocks, and playing. It here are Family Programs available and a lot of activities! It’s a nice quiet escape when you’re looking for somewhere treed to go and don’t want to drive too far from the city! #albertaparks #abparksambassador #camping #adventurefam #adventurefamily #explorealberta #getoutside #goodtimesoutside #homeiswhereyouparkit

On our way to the Dickson Trout Pond we stumbled across this provincial park and we were not disappointed. We used one of their day areas that was right along a bend in the Little Red Deer River. It's very nice for sure; albeit, it's closer to the highway than I typically would like. We managed to even catch a few fish: 1 mooneye and 3 suckers, but it counts. I would recommend bringing strong bug spray; however, they do have a cute little store on site that does sell some if you forget.

This provincial park and campground are well maintained. It seems small but has a lot of water taps and outhouses, more than most campgrounds. There is a decent playground too. The day use areas are small but the creek is perfect because it's slow moving. Group shelters are clean and big.

Nice concept. Sandy banks where families can build sand castles and enjoy the water and sun. Bring your floaties into the water and gently float down the lazy river. Unfortunately in August 2021 the water level of the river was very low. We could float only for short distances untill we were stopped when the water level was to low and our floaties ran aground. We had to get out and walk over the shallow areas to the next deep spot carrying our tubes. Wearing water shoes was a must as there were lots of rocks covering the river bed. The water was also very murky. This activity might be better enjoyed after a significant rainfall has occurred...

Family friendly campground, mostly for younger kids and groups. Sites are much closer together in a couple of the loops so if your neighbors also have kids, it can work well. Playgrround and sand pile kept kids entertained. Tubing down the river from the bridge is fun and easy for all ages. When we were there the mosquitoes were awful. If they sprayed for them, that would have made for a much more comfortable experience, especially for my 4 year old granddaughter. There are showers (I did not use so cannot comment but would have if we had stayed longer). A quick drive...
