Great experience! Wabamun Lake had everything for all ages. It has a beach with sand to the lake. You can swim in part of it. They have a dock area to jump off of. We never swam to known the depth. If you have a boat(motorized or not), sea doo, jet ski or any other water toy. It can be on the lake for enjoyment. It has outside shower for everyone to use, bathroom facility's. Camp sites for over night. (Tents only). Day use picnics with pit camp fires with grill(recommend to bring fire wood). Has a concession for ice cream and quick snacks like hot dogs, etc. Playgrounds for toddlers ( under 5) and for kids (5-12). Drinking water tap, but the water had a taste to it. I would recommend extra bottles to bring with you. We found boat rentals but not motorized(paddle boats, kayaks) Its great for families. No alcohol on the beach. Pet friendly area but no pets on the beach sand. Have fun and see you on the beach 🚣‍♂️

This is my favourite place to camp! The sites have tons of trees and lots of privacy, and there’s tons of sites to choose from. They even have a whole section for first come/first serve basis... a rarity these days. The lake itself isn’t something I would swim in, but it is gorgeous to walk around, especially when the sun is setting. There are tons of walking trails, a beach and playground for kids, volleyball area, and a small shop with snacks and essentials when you register to camp. If the little store doesn’t have what you need, the actual town of wabamun is close enough that you can walk, or it’s super simple to drive there as well. They have a nice long camping season there too, they open part of it in early May and close around thanksgiving. (We often camp as late as we can- we celebrate a holiday I like to call “campsgiving” haha). There’s all facilities here- showers, toilets, sani dump, etc.

This park is on Hwy 16 east of Edmonton, Alberta Canada. Along with camping area that loops around the lake there is a double boat launch with lots of parking for your truck and boat trailer, multi-lane sani dump with drinking water, lots of beach parking and a long, sandy beach with volleyball net, modern adventure playground, trails, picnic areas scatter through the trees and beach areas, grassy fields, and pier. Really big, nice well maintained park with lots of space to have fun on a destination vacation. Lots of power sites and lots of unserviced sites. Some sites need leveling blocks.

We stayed here 3 times this summer. Pros: It's close to Edmonton so pulling our trailer was affordable on gas. It's in a pine forest so the camp sites are nice, not always very private but the pictures on the Alberta booking site help make your decision. The staff were friendly and professional. Clean showers. Cons : No running water bathrooms on site except the shower area and no water taps in power sites for drinking water. I'm paying more here then Pigeon Lake provincal, which is the same distance, and has full bathrooms in each campground area. Using an outhouse is unacceptable when they charge more to a comparable campground from the same distance from the city. Also two of the outhouses had terrible lighting and had a terrible ammonia smell that made them unusable due to the urine. The camp sites are not well kept. The tall grass in the sites is not trimmed and had lots of thistle, not good for small children or pets. This is not the case at Pigeon which all sites I've been to are well groomed. The wood I purchased was rotten and $2 more per bundle then Pigeon Lake provincal park. Pigeon lake bundles of wood are $12 a bundle and they take off $2 if you buy more then one bundle of wood. Pigeon lakes wood wasn't rotten. Security worried me. All the outhouses had signs on them stating that there were lots of thiefs and to watch your things. I saw campsite security maybe twice a day and never after the 11 PM quite time. I never saw any of this type of signage in any campsite in Alberta. So what's going on? The camp site roads in the campgrounds are horrible compared to other provincial parks. They had a skidsteer try to fix the roads once when I was there but they need to blade the campsite roads. Big water channels dug along the roads from rain storms shows me they don't care and it beats up your vehicles suspension. Lots of highway and train noise on all sites. Do you like peace and quiet? Don't camp here and again, pay more then other campsites in Alberta.

Overall, I do like the the location and the pine forest of Wabmun but I don't see how Pigeon lake, which I have been using as a comparison due to the same distance from Edmonton, how Wabmun provincial park charges $$ more than Pigeon and has less amenities and security, and not as well...

Just an all round beautiful place. Pretty secluded sites with tall trees . Kinda hilly think nice twisty toboggan ride but it didn't seem to be any problem for big trucks and trailers. Nice Lake all though far from camp sites I was utterly amazed at how full the beach was on a Tuesday during covid. Nice free showers, they could have used a more frequent cleaning only due to the amount of hair in the women's shower. Definitely need to wear shower shoes it bring your own rubber mat which I will do next time. The store is tiny and super expensive so don't plan on that being a back up to what ever you may have forgotten. A big hit with families with small children they were bike riding all over the place so you have to take extra care driving around there but I guess that is due to poor parenting not anything to do with the place. Very quiet at night time. All the little kids went to bed early. The bathrooms (outhouses) were disgusting though. Terrible. And that's all there is for toilets, there aren't nice ones waiting for you at the shower. we will go again, according to my teenagers they say it's one of...

Beach is great, nice playgrounds and recreation areas, boats for rent, accessible washrooms. You can easily walk to the town from the campground. I will be going back for day use. The campground is very noisy with partying going on well into 3-4am, drunks stumbling through our site all night, beer cans and garbage strewn throughout sites, people ripping around in loud trucks at 2am. Park staff didn't appear to check our area once in a full long weekend stay. Sites had multiple vehicles and appeared to be over capacity, some sites up to 12 people overnight. Outhouses appeared to not have odor control. Showers are bare concrete no rubber antibacterial mats. Water lukewarm. Outlets in the shower room not working. Store staff charge a $3 fee for cash back on purchase. Firewood is $10. Overall it was a negative camping experience despite the awesome location. If this is what tourists see when they come to...
