Either by a long boat ride or a rough gravel road, getting to Bamfield is a bit of journey. Heck then you need to cross the inlet to get to West Bamfield. Then from here a long walk down the gravel community road.
All of this is so worth it to finally get to the rugged west coast shoreline that opens to the Pacific Ocean and Broken Islands in the distance. Brats Beach is a historic spot from First Nations heritage to turn of the century getaways for early settlers.
The beach is a maze of rocky outcroppings, sea stacks and sandy shores. Explore and discover the spot for yourself making sure you check out the bench locals fixed high up on a rocky bluff to enjoy the amazing sunsets here. Also the interesting two story fort like outhouse is a quirky attraction as well as the driftwood band stage that locals will come down to on Friday’s and Saturday’s to jam on during summer.
