Paradise.
I am grateful to my parents for taking me to this lake in the summer of 2022 , it will be something that I never forget.
When you visit Ruby lake by car, there is a large car park that goes down to the main beach, which is a perfect spot for families of younger kids, and less confident swimmers, as there is a shallow enclosed swimming area there in the warmer months. However, keep an eye along the roads, as just up the hill there is a smaller dirt parking spot, marked by a few logs next to the cliffs. Behind this there is a very obscure dirt path that leads down the cliff to an abundance of smaller rocky beaches, and cliff jumping areas.
(WARNING: The water can be shallower than you think, also the cliffs are shaped so that when you look out at the lake from them it appears as if it is just a straight drop down. This nearly injured one of my friends who narrowly missed the shore after blindly jumping off the edge.)
The crown jewel of Ruby lake is the gargantuan arbutus tree that hangs over the water to the right of the cliff jumping area. There is a 10 ft rope-swing that connect to one of the branches and goddayum is it a beautiful spot. In the image above you can see me on it after unsuccessful resisting the G forces that that thing pulls. I swear once you try it you’ll understand.
Another warning is that the water has a sudden drop off so please make sure that you know how to properly swim before you explore here!
Having visited many other Canadian Lakes, I can say without a doubt that this is the warmest, freshest, cleanest, most beautiful, most exciting lake in all of Canada. After you go, you WILL be...
Read morefantastic lakeside beach, super popular, limited parking so arrive early! carpool recommended! bring a meal, and pack your organics to take back to compost (district bylaw posted on the bin). you won't want to stay too long: drink lightly and head back to your home to use the bathroom. was there on july 7, and the outhouse was in disgusting condition. maybe it was between cleanings, but the surfaces were covered in feces and urine. If you stand to pee, you'll avoid the surfaces but the feces attract some really nasty bugs/flies that'll give you some prominent bites! tl;dr -- visit the beach, don't use...
Read moreThis is my favourite place in Sunshine Coast. There’s a beautiful sandy beach with incredible, crystal clear teal water. This is a warm water lake and is excellent for swimming, a little piece of paradise. There are two islands easily accessible by paddle board with plenty of space. This is a must go. Parking is great, even if the lot is full you can still find lot of space across the road. There is a washroom available. You can find a smaller sandy beach on the little trail just at the bottom of the...
