We felt safe with the very good response from the local fire fighters on the ground and in the air during the hot thunder season. The lightning strikes that started wild / forest fires wete carefully monitored out of Penticton and employed to Osoyoos. We were attending the annual Mount Kobau Star Party with the potential to be ready to pack up our telescopes and be ready to evacuate. The assurance of seeing the helicopters and planes overhead was reassuring that we were kept safe to the best of the fire rescuers' abilities.
