The Thompson Rim Trail is a ridge walk along Thompson Mountain. There is very little exposure, with a well kept trail and even a camping site at the trailhead. Subalpine plants and flowers are numerous, especially in July. Views extend up to kootenay lake and duck lake to the north, and well into Idaho in the South. Read moreTook two friends from out of town, one of whom is a photographer, up to the Top of Mount Thompson & walked the first KM during Sunset. Little skiff of snow up there mixed with the setting sun made for some impressive photos. Decided to come back early so we didn’t lose daylight, but reminded how much I enjoy this trail.
Also nice to see the new camping site, picnic tables & trail kiosks that the Community Forest has put up. Will have to come back...
