Best park trails in the world in a laid back waterfront setting that will blow your freaking mind.
Everything is well made and flows great. There are some awesome techy trails too - my favorite is a short one called Zig Zag. Brown pow all the way through. Hold it wide open - roost till your hearts content and it hurts to smile.
I like CG for many reasons... but one is because it's not a resort town and the vibe is so good. I think a big reason for the vibe is Evan or "Intern". Evan is a big part of setting the culture there and he makes a big difference. He greets you with a smile as if you are one of his bros. Curtis and Dylan are also really friendly and taking a lap with them made me feel like I was in a pinkbike edit. High fives all around and good laughs. Truly memories I will never forget.
What to expect:
It's a small bike park so the laps are not very long but they are damn good and you don't feel totally burnt out at the end of the day. (Unless you ride a ton in the middle of the summer and don't drink enough water) It's off a dirt road and there are no actual buildings on the property. You are literally in the middle of the forest as far as I can tell (which I think is cool). Bring water specially in the summer because sometimes they run out. There is a porter potty onsite. Bring cash for the dude that's on the grill under the canopy because he is legit and his food is worth the money. Plus, I love eating hot food off the grill. Bring your bike stuff such as: spare tubes, multi too, ect... There is no bike shop out there.
Finally, I think 3 full days is a great amount of time to ride this park and get it dialed in (depending on skill level) There are also great local trails to ride as well which I hope to explore more during my next visit.
Check this place out! No lines. No brake bumps. No newbies sitting on the landings of jumps wearing jean shorts riding their rental bike looking...
Read moreDefinitely an over hyped Park. They had their new autopilot run which was pretty fun but the rest of the park was severely neglected as a result. Albeit it is summertime and giving them the benefit of the doubt here I am rating them three stars. I just went to whistler the next day and although there are braking bumps, the overall care of the park seems better. Definitely don't go out of your way to go visit this place. The runs are short, really (only at a black level) the only run from the top that is good is devils elbow. The mid run choices are disappointing and the end you can do either auto pilot or lift off which are quite fun. Also on a busy day they only have 2 shuttles running which makes the wait times long to get to the top. As much as they try to prevent dings and scratches from the bike carry system you may still get some. Overall I was quite disappointed compared to what I was told it would be like. Go elsewhere for a good time (also this is a one day park and really only should be unless you have too many people and the loading system becomes severely overloaded. They should really convert this to a self shuttle park but do a lot of work on the runs. Did I mention that the workers there were also taking fun runs? Running a skeleton crew (as it seems) already I would hope that they could fix some berms or water them etc to make the experience a little better. The YouTube videos showing how proud they are about the park is not a true reflection of what the workers show on the hill...
Read moreI rode here for the first time two weekends ago. It was a great experience! It has a real "community" vibe to it, unlike any other bike park I've been to.
The staff is excellent, and really went above and beyond to help me out. I got a flat on my third lap and they gave me a ride back down to the base. My spare tube was in a buddies car that was locked, so they gave me a free inner tube (even though I was happy to pay!) and even changed my tire for me super fast! Andy saw me fiddling around with my tiny tire levers and pulled out some big ones and had it done in two minutes. I was right back up for another lap in no time.
They'll take a lunch order for you in line, so you can do another lap and have your food waiting for you at the bottom, which is a great touch.
I'm a mediocre jumper, and a few of the trails were quite progressive and helped me better my jump skills. I'd love to come back again. Hopefully some time this summer! Shout out to the staff who really made the...
