Joined by Vanessa and our good friends Cindy and Gary, we set off along the Cowichan Valley Trail, soaking in the fall air and marveling at the engineering audacity of the early industrial era. Built when logging was king and settlers were sketching out their fortunes, the Kinsol Trestle stands as a breathtaking monument to human ingenuity — a wooden cathedral spanning both river and time.

From the sweeping vistas to the scent of cedar and earth underfoot, it’s a trail that rewards both conversation and contemplation. And as all great hikes should, ours concluded in proper form — with a pilgrimage to Drifter’s Creamery, where homemade ice cream flows like divine intervention. Let’s just say the flavors are dangerously decadent… though, by hiker’s logic, there are zero calories if consumed post-trestle (especially on a Sunday, surrounded by your favorite people).💜😊
