Nice dog friendly outdoor patio. Visited in summer of 25' wines definitely unique and off the beaten path of normal varietals you'll see. They had a rose colored pinot gris, and a white pinot noir. Head winemaker Dylan is obviously pulling out all the stops in order to save fruit amd put forth a solid product regardless of the curveballs that weather, equipment failures bring him My father worked with him in Santa Rosa, CA. Dylan is very talented. Property is beautiful and excited for the future of this winery. Will be back in a couple years to try their wines after they've aged a bit.

The smell of lavender washes over you the instant you pull onto the property. The aroma brings about a calming feeling and prepares you for a tasting that is different that your typical wine tasting. The Vineyard was planted in 2006 and the first wines were released in 2011. The wines are unique and delicious and if you are the type of person that doesn’t like flavoured wines I encourage you to try these because the are all fantastic, so much so we purchased a bottle of every wine we tasted that day.

I was looking forward to our tasting at Cobble Hill Winery as I quite enjoy their wines. However our experience fell far short of expectations. Each year we travel up island for an event and plan a visit at a few wineries along the way - it’s a day we always look forward to. We travel with two well behaved dogs, and ensure they are welcome wherever we go. CHW did indeed welcome dogs and we bought along a picnic to enjoy. The day was very hot (as is usual in July), and we looked forward to enjoying some shade. However, and despite there being a shaded, comfortable paved patio area nearby, guests appeared to be seated onto a sweltering wooden slatted deck of the main building. Our server was very friendly and seated us at a corner away from others so our dogs could Spread out. There was no dog dish or water offered, as is the case in other wineries, so we returned to the car for a dish and water. During that time, one of our dogs was stung by a wasp which had entered through the gaps in the boards. The poor thing had no idea what had happened, and she was quite scared. We asked if we could move to the concrete area, but were denied without any reason. We asked for ice for the swelling, but there wasn’t any, so I again made my way back to the car for ice. During that trip I inspected under the deck and noted a nest through the open part of under the deck. I mentioned this to our server and saw a woman (I think she was an owner) head towards there. Finally settled, and quite cramped in the deck space, dogs under the table, we began our tasting. The server was very knowledgeable and we did enjoy the wines. The deck, though, was so hot and we were concerned about being stung - and the spacious concreted patio looked so inviting. It was such a shame we could not use it, especially on such a hot day. Chatting with the other patrons (we were in very close confines), we were not alone. I purchased three bottles, and highly recommend the Moscat, which went amazingly well with our Nori sushi meal that evening. There is a $15 tasting fee which is redeemable with the purchase of two bottles, which in my experience is steep. There are many other wineries in the area providing a much more comfortable and better experience. (Averill Creek, Unsworth to name a few)I was asked if I wanted to purchase another bottle to waive the tasting fee, but I didn’t feel the cost to purchase ratio was worth it. Quite frankly, we were so over the heat and the wasps buzzing at the end of the deck by then, we just wanted to leave. It was a shame no one followed up on our dog’s Condition. I think it would have been a professional and empathetic gesture on management’s part to waive both our fees entirely Given the less than comfortable...

Cobble Hill Winery (previously known as Damali Lavender Farm and Winery) is Vancouver Island’s newest winery. Located in Cobble Hill, the owners and their winemaker embarked on an impressive journey to redefine its wine offerings and agricultural practices; this vineyard now shines as a beacon of innovation and sustainability in the Island’s wine industry.

The new owners have boldly shifted the vineyard's focus to an exciting array of wine varietals, distinguishing themselves from the previous selections

In addition to it’s new selection of wines, what truly sets Cobble Hill Winery apart is its dedication to regenerative farming practices. The new owners have implemented a holistic approach to viticulture, prioritizing soil health, biodiversity, and sustainability. Cover cropping, composting, and minimal tillage are now integral parts of their farming regimen, fostering a thriving ecosystem that enhances the vines' resilience and productivity.

The tasting room, redesigned to reflect the vineyard's new identity, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. Under its new direction, Cobble Hill Winery has introduced a captivating range of wines among these, the single varietal Muscat stands out as a personal favorite. This wine is a fragrant delight, offering an aromatic bouquet of jasmine blossom, lychee, and honeydew melon.

Additionally, their signature white blend, Kismet, is a masterpiece that harmoniously combines Siegerrebe, Bacchus, Gewürztraminer, and Viognier. The result is a complex and enchanting wine that evolves beautifully on the palate.

Cobble Hill Winery is exactly what Cowichan Valley and Vancouver Island have been waiting for. For wine lovers seeking exceptional flavors and a responsible approach to winemaking, Cobble Hill Winery is a must-visit...
