Very friendly staff but was a bit disappointed cause there really wasn't anything about the island ie... who founded it (where it got its name) or anything about the whaling station that whaletown got it's name or even anything about the indigenous people besides a book you could look at about surviving the residential school. There is info on the Japanese man who formed a logging company there yrs ago, a beautiful garden.

Admittedly I visited the museum and gift shop portion more than the archives, and was not disappointed! We waited until Friday from Tuesday to visit this place. The selection of items in the gift store was decent and history of the island artfully and engagingly displayed. The person working there was delightful and helpful.

Thanks for our tour Lily! Incredible knowledgeable local youth who toured our group through their mapping exhibit. There was so much information about the island, from the Klahoose and other coast Salish nations to the more recent histories. We really appreciated the knowledge and the pace. They also have an awesome...
