Our absolutely terrible trip. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. We had made reservation for the 3 Sept on the afternoon trip just to be told minutes before boarding the bus that our trip had been cancel due to complication with BC Ferries. Yes he did mentioned that it was his mistake that we had been cancelled and that he would booked us for the next day at 07:00 but what he didn't not understood is that we stayed at a resort on the other side of the famous hill near Bella Coola on highway 20. The problem is that we would of ad to leave during dark hours to get there and my wife does not do hills well at all due to a near deaf accident a few years ago and I didn't wanted to make her fill any worst. We had spend close to $3,000.00 for this trip of a life time just to be treated like a second class citizen and there raft were full with European citizen, my conclusion is that we were bump off the tour so that he could of accommodate the Europeans. I was told by some residents from the local area that this procedure is done on a regular time to accommodate the lager group. Once a booking is done and confirm then everything should of been done to inform us, he knew where we stayed, the resort has a phone, no effort were done to inform us till minutes before departure. A very disappointed former costumer. Never again will I deal or recommend...
Read moreUnfortunately, this was a really disappointing experience.
We were told to get there at 7:30 for a 7:45am departure. We arrived at 7:32, only to be scolded for being the last to arrive, and chivvied along as if we were holding everyone up, barely giving us time to sort out our gear for the morning.
We also found out that from May - mid-August, this tour runs as an eco-rafting tour, and costs $175. From mid-August, it becomes a “bear viewing tour” and the cost is hiked up to $225. Unfortunately, according to our guides, the bears don’t consistently come down to the river until mid-September. In their words, mid-September is the time you’re more likely to see a bear than not, while right now (end of August) you’re more likely to NOT see any bears.
Cool.
I know no one can guarantee wildlife, so if it was still just $175 and considered an eco-rafting trip, that would be fine, but to jack up the price and call it a bear watching trip when even the guides admit there’s not likely to be bears is just a cash grab.
After being rushed to start, our 4 hour rafting trip ended up only two hours, and most of that was spent with long stretches just sitting stationary so we could “admire the river”
This might be a good trip in a few weeks time, but the misleading advertising, the truncated duration, and the attitude of the guides left a bad taste...
Read moreMy friend and I did did the half day tour a few days ago. We had a great day. Our tour guide Justin was polite, professional and knowledgeable. We saw 5 grizzlies in all and along the way our guide pointed out other interesting things for us ( interesting birds, signs of bear activity, eagles to name a few ) He was able to answer any questions we had & we also learned more about the river, some geographical tidbits about the area and learned more about the spawning salmon/salmon run. He was a wealth of information - I learned a lot. It was definitely worth it - and Ill be trying to do this tour again next season. Our guide even hopped out of the raft ( knee deep water ) a few times and made sure we had a good vantage point for viewing and pictures.
it was so nice that even if we hadnt seen bears, I would have been happy with this tour - the fall colors and the float down the Atnarko river were amazing.
I also appreciated 1 - the affordable price point of this tour 2 - the care the guides take to ensure that the bears always have the right of way and that we arent a bother to them. My only regret is that I didnt bring a good camera with me ( just my phone ) but the memories will...
