We had our wedding at Covert Farms in June and would absolutely choose this venue again. It is naturally beautiful and provided the perfect laid-back yet refined rustic ambiance. Thank you Shelly and the team at Covert Farms for a wonderful wedding experience!
The venue is spectacular and has a little bit of everything. The property is huge and provides many possible backdrops for first look, golden hour, and group photos. The outdoor ceremony site is surrounded by beautiful bluffs and the wooden benches for guests were lovely. We rented their trucks to transport guests from the ceremony to the reception as they're a few km away from each other. The reception area has lawn games and farm animals nearby (enjoyed by kids and adults alike). Dinner takes place under a beautiful wooden pavilion structure (with sturdy curtain “walls” to manage the wind), and the long wooden dinner tables are gorgeous. This area is lovely without much help from florals or decoration. The dance floor is uncovered (you could rent a tent) but luckily we had excellent weather. Many guests commented on how fantastic the wine was. My partner and I particularly love their Amicitia red wine.
Shelly provided us an excel spreadsheet to keep all wedding-related items organized. She worked with us, our parents, wedding planner, and photographer to coordinate and answer our endless questions. There were one or two small miscommunications (to be expected given all the people involved) but everything got sorted out and went smoothly on the day of. We were very pleased with how it all came together and all the Covert staff were delightful on the wedding day. Thank you so much...
Read moreCovert Farms bills itself as family-friendly, but it is about the least family-friendly place that I have ever been. Once they found out that we didn't pre-book (which they website didn't indicate was an absolute requirement), they were unaware of the next available tasting and whether they could accommodate a child's tasting (our kid is TWO, pour some juice and call it a day) - and yet, they didn't say something along the lines of "excuse me while I go and check and see".... they just stood there staring at us, giving us the distinct impression that they wanted us to just leave. They did try to appease us by saying we could just drop in to visit the grounds - they have some animals ("but they're all in the shade so you won't see them", and they have some play structures ("but the inflatable pillow [literally the only good thing there] isn't available as it is only available to those on a pre-booked tour") - and it costs $10 PER adult. We could spend $20 to see no animals and use no play equipment... what a great deal after wrangling two kids under 3 out of the car and promising a wine tasting that would finally be fun for them. They told us that they "did things a bit differently", and out of the entirety of our interaction, nothing could more accurately describe Covert Farms. They do things a bit differently, but it's not a positive. I would avoid this place altogether if you have children or a family. It is NOT family-friendly, and it was not in fact even remotely friendly at all. This place is a rip-off, and I would go so far as to say that their pricing for their "family-friendly" portion of...
Read moreWow! What an amazing experience! My wife and I with our 3 kids were treated to an incredible Hand On Tour hosted by Krista. It started with a tour around with the animals. The kids loved feeding the llamas and we enjoyed learning all about how the animals help keep the farm and vineyards healthy.
Krista poured us some wine and we jumped into the tour truck. We stopped at various locations all around the property and learned all about what makes Covert Farms so amazingly special in their biodynamic production of their wine. The kids had a blast and loved learning and asking questions as we went through the tour. We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide as Krista entertained and answered every question from all of us.
The tour continued to get better as we were led out to the organic strawberries and each got to fill our own boxes. 1 to eat, 1 in the box, repeat. Delicious!!
The wine tasting and charcuterie patter was fantastic! The kids loved their juice and they spent the rest of the time jumping on the trampoline while we enjoyed the rest of our tasting.
This is easily the best family tour and tasting experience in the entire Okanagan! And it's worth every penny! In fact, it's because of Krista that we decided to become club members and do the tour again later this year.
Thank you, Krista! This was an experience that we'll remember for a LONG TIME! And we cannot wait to visit again for another...
