My wife and i were on a drive to Osoyoos to do some shopping and we drove past a newsign we had never seen before , Oak and Sparrow Winery lets check it on the way back and we did. What a wonderful surprise we were greeted as we entered by a lovely woman Simran a beautiful smile and friendy voice, i generally dont do tastings but they she talked with such excitement i was interested . She gave us some history about the vineyard and the wines we were going to try . I'm not a white wine guy but i will give it a try with my wife, if i find good red wine i buy it . I joined my wife with a unoaked chardonnay , white i know but to my surprise it was like driving a new luxury car down the highway it was wonderful , what a surprise i loved it . Then the second. White was Pino Gris it was like driving a party open roof sports car with fireworks in your palate, then the pinot noir i felt i was sitting on my deck with a cigar in my happy place , it was that good and lastley the oaked chardonnay , the taste reminded me of a smooth rock with water flowing over it and it was wonderful. Read moreOak and Sparrow is a great addition to Oliver. On our visit, the winery had only been opened for three weeks, and the tastings experience is lovely with Simran. Her story, the charm of the place and serving the cherries to complement the wine was a unique pairing and the experience out on the patio made it awesome.
I personally loved the unoaked Chardonnay, crisp, light and tastes very good. So good, I went back for additional bottle. My in laws loved the Gamay and we all enjoyed Pinot Noir.
