I 've been a loyal guest at this resort for years, drawn to the stunning mountain views and the cozy cabin setup. However, my recent experience has been deeply disappointing, highlighting serious shortcomings in resort management.
This year, I pre-purchased full-day tickets (9am-8pm) to secure a $10 discount, only to discover that one of the two main lifts (excluding the beginner slope) was out of service for weeks. This significantly impacted my experience, as it included the crucial night skiing option.
For two days, I endured the frustration of a single semi-operational lift, with various skiers including the local ski club. While it's commendable to see young skiers participating, the inadequate staffing at the lift resulted in frequent and lengthy stoppages. Yesterday, I witnessed the lift halt an astonishing 15 times during a single ride, extending a typically 8-minute journey to a torturous 20 minutes. This was not an isolated incident.
Further compounding the issues, my brother-in-law rented skis for tomorrow but realized he no longer needed them. The resort offers no cancellation option, only a $10 fee to reschedule for another day – completely useless since he has no intention of returning this season. A simple credit towards future rentals was inexplicably denied.
To add insult to injury, I was denied a refund for the unavailability of night skiing, a crucial factor in my ticket purchase that was not disclosed upfront. Despite paying for 8 hours of skiing, we were limited to 3:30 pm with no compensation.
The final straw came today when my 5-year-old nephew's RFID card malfunctioned at the ticket scanners. Despite presenting proof of purchase, I was forced to leave the lift and navigate the customer service office, a process that consumed 30 precious minutes. Imagine the frustration of an eager young skier being denied access to the slopes while dealing with this bureaucratic obstacle.
In summary, this resort excels at extracting revenue from its guests while offering minimal customer support. Any unforeseen circumstances, whether on their part or yours, result in significant financial losses for the guest.
This was not always the case. While I cherish the beauty of these mountains, the decline in operational standards is deeply concerning. I may be forced to explore alternative options in the future, hoping that common sense and customer satisfaction will eventually prevail over a purely...
Read moreI've been coming to this mountain for over 20 years now. Learned to snowboard here and still love coming, although it's a roll of the dice for conditions, operating equipment and overall experience.
I've had some of the best days of my life up there and some of the worst ..
Often the road up is BRUTAL, full of potholes and slow moving vehicles. At times, vehicles are just stopped in the middle of the road....Definitely be prepared! Sometimes the wind picks up and closes the lifts for an indeterminate amount of time.
Other times the chair lifts just stop mid way and you wait. And WAIT... And wait and more .... I've been lucky I suppose, and haven't ever been stuck for too long.
Three chair lifts. Yellow is basically a big bunny Hill, runs day and night
Red is the best, but only runs 9am-2pm.
Green chair is the usual night run lift as well as yellow Nice and big and lots of great spots to shred. Green is rad during the day too because you can go right at the top of the lift and take the long way down which is super fun!
Staff are pretty spectacular here! They are always courteous, helpful and empathetic 💙❄️🏂
Molly Hogan's pub is a nice place to go to warm up in and great atmosphere. FOOD is terrible mostly, expensive but what other place u gonna eat at? 🤷 Exactly. Burgers ok, fries are usually cold by the time they are served ($20.00) for that. I tried something new last night and had the hot cheesy bacon dip. Maybe 5 tablespoons of dip and chips for $16.00.. meh. It was something to eat. Wouldn't order again. They were sold out of chicken wings. Again, staff are great! ❤️
It was really spectacular when they had outdoor 🔥fire pits 🔥 going with benches to sit around and I was excited to see that again this year but unfortunately those were all gone when I visited last night.
Prices keep rising, but isn't that the state of the world?
I'd definitely recommend this hill, but come prepared for disappointment if the weather doesn't cooperate. Bring food, charged phones, bottled water and supplies because it has happened that people get STUCK up there! The road washed out a few years ago and you could not leave!
I knew people who chartered HELICOPTERs to get off the mountain. But I think that's an extreme example and statistically wouldn't happen...
Used to be called Hemlock, now called Sasquatch as the Natives called it that for as long back as locals...
Read moreDue to Covid-19 everyone needs to purchase their passes in advance (which I understand) and you have no opportunities to purchase tickets at the hill.
This means that you need to purchase weeks before with no idea the conditions, state of the road, or whether or not you will have contacted covid (which there will be no accommodation for). I did not feel safe driving up the hill nor skiing as my friends were learners - and asked if it would be possible to transfer to another time. Rather than being explained to nicely that this was not possible for them, I was embarrassed and yelled at saying "if this was the Bahamas you would never get a refund" in front of the entire shop. Vehicles were slipping all over the roads, and I saw 11 vehicles pulled over on the way up.
Additionally, absolutely no covid-19 protocols were followed except for (most, but not all) employees wearing masks. There are staff greeting you out front coming right up to your face, and not encouraging physical distancing in any way. Manning, Cypress and Mt Seymour have much more serious precautions, and I did not feel safe here.
Due to the conditions, I had to get my skis waxed as they wouldn't move on the snow (which is fine). While I was waiting I was encouraged to go to the restaurant to get fries, however was turned away as they would not accommodate a table for 1 for at least 1.5 hours, and would not provide take out. I went downstairs to the outdoor window restaurant, where I had to wait over 20 minutes to order because an employee ahead of me was talking to the staff asking if he could get a free coffee because he worked there. By the time they realized I was waiting, my skis were done and I didn't want to waste anymore time.
Lastly, due to the conditions we only got 2-3 runs in, costing our group over $500+ on the hill to ski for an hour.
I have been skiing at this mountain for 10 years+ and will not be returning, as I have never been treated with less respect at any mountain, and was shocked with how I...
