What an amazing hike 🚶♂️ definitely not for the weak. We did this in 5 and 1/2 hours 13 miles total. The first two miles are switchbacks, probably the hardest of the hike. The day we went was cloudy with light rain. This caused some of the trail to be muddy. Also, some of it had snow that had melted. We started the hike at 7:00 a.m. only ran into one more person hiking halfway up you are faced with a small river 🏞 that you will have to jump rock and rock or use the plank that is there to cross it when we went up the water level was over the plank we had to find our way over the water you might get wet. After the river, it levels out, and the hike is not as bad. Once you're getting to the campground, there might be snow and might make it hard slippery to get through, but not too bad. When we arrived at the lake, the sun was trying to break through the clouds. This made it a wonderful time to take pictures and take in the scenery, definitely breathtaking views😲 of the mountains and lake. Overall a must hike if you're in the area I would recommend take plenty of water snacks if you're not a seasoned hiker I would rate this 8 out of 10 for difficulty also would not be a bad idea to take bear spray we did not see any cougar or bears on the hike but it is the Wilderness so be aware. And to the people that camp out by the lake, you guys...
Read moreA beautiful glacial lake situated a reasonable 3-3.5 hour hike from the lot off of the Sea to Sky Highway. It can get crowded in the shelters during the day with all of the day hikers coming up.
If you are into a refreshing swim it can cool you of from the hike on a hurry. Walk along the lake front towards the Ranger cabin and there is an accessable dock so you don't have to risk wading in over the sharp rocks.
The campground was well maintained with outhouses that were hit and miss due to the heavy use. There are shelters available with table for cooking and eating if the weather turns bad and stations to use for hoisting your food up and out of the reach of bears.
There are friendly chipmunks and Whiskey Jack's who will come right up to beg for food.
It is so dark that you can even see the Milky Way in the...
Read moreThe place is very beautiful however do not go in winter. The lake was frozen over plus covered in snow so we didn't get to see what everyone in the pics is showing. 4.5 hours to climb up lots and lots of snow and and trail is not clean at all. Very very dangerous too as again trails are not clean and there's a risk of slipping and falling down all the way up from the mountain. The way down was way worse 3.5 hours and the trail was so slippery we almost fell several times. No place to rest along the way either. No seats and only 3 signs all over the mountain indicating how many km to reach the lake. I'm giving it 3 stars because the place is beautiful but way too dangerous for winter. Summer seems to be the best time to go but I'm too scarred to go back there again after all...
