An excellent hike to see the Pesuta shipwreck, and a charming walk through old growth forest. Start your hike at the East Beach Trail. The trailhead is directly north of the Tlell river, with ample parking available. The first ~30-40% of the trail is through the forest, with the latter portion along the river and coast. We took 3 hours roundtrip, with multiple short stops and some sightseeing along the way.

the trail is very well maintained, with short boardwalks and stairs as needed. The trail is rated as moderate difficulty, which seems accurate. Minimal elevation change, though the first few km have many tree roots and a few spots of uneven footing. Wayfinding was easy. Look for clearly marked signage as well as the trail markers attached to trees (see photos for reference)!

Along the way, we heard many birds and frogs, and saw aquatic life too. Salmon were leaping from the river, and a sea lion (maybe seal?) was patrolling as the tide came in. The river is susceptible to flooding as the flood tide comes in. It was very cool to see the water flowing up the river, as it was quite prominent in this location. The wreck itself is interesting to see. Gelkie creek was also charming. The creek water is dark with natural tanins, and time seemed to stand still as we hung out near the creek crossing bridge.

Overall, I would recommend this hike. It has a little bit if everything (forest, river, coast), and showed off the stunning nature of...

Beautiful hike. Slight elevation gain up a hill at the start but mostly flat. The walk through the forest portion of the hike is very peaceful. Once you cross the bridge you move to a steady walk along an open beach until you come to the Pesuta shipwreck site. In the early spring, lots of wildlife including songbirds, ravens, crows, eagles, river otters, squirrels and deer. A nice relaxing hike and easy to turn back...

On east beach trail just over 5km is this shipwreck that is huge but hurry as it’s been deteriorating and may not be much left as years go by! The walk is nice took about 3 hours but some say up to 5 hours. First 2 km is in missy forest and rest on beach. Check tides before venturing Value 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Service...

I spent 4 days 3 nights on the east beach trail leaving from Tllaal - Pesuta ship trailhead , going north after the Cape Fife shelter on the Rose Spit Loop trail, continuing to the very tip of the Rose spit and then arriving at the Taaw - Tow hill parking lot via the North Beach. Full trip 100.4 km. It was amazing 🤩

The pesuta trail along east beach is one of my favourites. Take the forest walk to the river and then trek down the beach a ways. Check the tides before you go! Pretty moderate hike, can do it ok in runners if it's a dry season.
